Best Chris Matthews Video Ever

Finally, someone succinctly makes the point that both sides of the political spectrum have their crazies, and that pigeonholing all the people that have problems with the health care legislation as radical or racist is intellectually dishonest. Best moment of the interview is when Chris Matthews mutters under his breath “this isn’t working.”

Tea Party In Searchlight, Nevada Thousands Attend

Searchlight, Nevada hometown to Senator Harry Reid, Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate was the setting for a successful kick-off for the Tea Party Express and the Tea Party Patriots who travelled from all over the country to support it’s 42 city tour that will end in Washington D.C. on April 15, tax day deadline.

The organizers of the event estimated that 10,000 participants were expected to attend the event in Searchlight.

The local media guessed that the attendance was around 7,000-8,000 participants that were gathered in this tiny town of a 1,000 residents.

What was not taken into account was the thousands of people who tried to make their way to the event that was turned away at the roadblocks after this tiny little town was filled to capacity.  The estimates could have very well been 12,000 or more!

Sarah Palin was the guest speaker who drew the Tea Party Patriots to this sleepy little town, approximately 60 miles outside of Las Vegas.

Former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin did not disappoint her fellow Tea Party Patriots.

” She told them Reid, fighting for re-election, is “gambling away our future.” “Someone needs to tell him, this is not a crapshoot,” Palin said.

“We’re not going to sit down and shut up. Thank you for standing up,” Palin said.

“Some of you are registered Republicans. Some of you are …what we used to call Reagan Democrats,” Palin said. “And some of you are like so many of my friends and my family, including my own husband, just independent, not registered in any party. Just true, blue-blooded Americans.”

Her speech thrilled the crowds of everyday Americans from all walks of life, Nevadans and those who travelled from across this great country, not just to be inspired by Sarah Palin,  but to join in an effort to take our beloved country back!

Thousands Gathered in Searchlight for Tea Party Rally

//

SEARCHLIGHT, NEV.  — Sarah Palin told thousands of tea party activists assembled in the dusty Nevada desert Saturday that Sen. Harry Reid will have to explain his votes when he comes back to his hometown to campaign.

The wind whipped U.S. flags behind the former Alaska governor as she stood on a makeshift stage, holding a microphone and her notes as she spoke to the cheering crowd. She told them Reid, fighting for re-election, is “gambling away our future.” “Someone needs to tell him, this is not a crapshoot,” Palin said.

About 7,000 people streamed into tiny Searchlight, a former mining town 60 miles south of Las Vegas, bringing American flags, “Don’t Tread on Me” signs and outspoken anger toward Reid, President Barack Obama and the health care overhaul.

Palin told them the big-government, big-debt spending spree of the Senate majority leader, Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is over.

“You’re fired!” Palin said.

A string of polls has shown Reid is vulnerable in politically moderate Nevada after pushing Obama’s agenda in Congress. His standing has also been hurt by Nevada’s double-digit unemployment and record foreclosure and bankruptcy rates.

The Searchlight native responded with sarcasm to the large crowd gathered in the hardscrabble town of about 1,000 he grew up in.

“I’m happy so many people came to see my hometown of Searchlight and spend their out-of-state money, especially in these tough economic times,” Reid said Saturday in a statement released through his Senate campaign. “This election will be decided by Nevadans, not people from other states who parachuted in for one day to have a tea party.”

Traffic on a highway leading into the town was backed up more than two miles Saturday afternoon as people gathered for the rally, which kicks off a 42-city bus tour that ends in Washington on April 15, tax day.

Cars and RVs filled the dusty area where the rally was held, as people set up lawn chairs and braced against the stiff wind whipping up dust clouds and blowing dozens of flags straight out.

The rally that’s been called a conservative Woodstock takes place just days after the historic health care vote that ushered in near-universal medical coverage and divided Congress and the nation. The vote was followed by reports of threats and vandalism aimed at some Washington lawmakers, mostly Democrats who supported the new law.

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, appeared after spending Friday and Saturday morning campaigning for Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who led the 2008 ticket.

Now a Fox News analyst and potential 2012 presidential candidate, Palin faced criticism after posting a map on her Facebook page that had circles and cross hairs over 20 Democratic districts. She also sent a tweet saying, “Don’t Retreat, Instead -RELOAD!”

She said Saturday she wasn’t inciting violence, just trying to inspire people to get involved.

“We’re not going to sit down and shut up. Thank you for standing up,” Palin said.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sent dozens of uniformed and plainclothes officers to patrol the crowd. Officer Jay Rivera said there was a report of a fistfight in the morning, but when police responded, they found nothing. He said there had been no arrests.

“So far it’s nice and peaceful,” Rivera said.

The tea party movement is a far-flung coalition of conservative groups angered by Washington spending, rising taxes and the growth and reach of government. It takes its name from the Boston Tea Party in 1773, when colonists dumped tea off English ships to protest what they considered unfair taxation by the British crown.

“Some of you are registered Republicans. Some of you are …what we used to call Reagan Democrats,” Palin said. “And some of you are like so many of my friends and my family, including my own husband, just independent, not registered in any party. Just true, blue-blooded Americans.”

Some people milling around at the rally wore old-fashioned costumes and carried drums, lending to a festival-like atmosphere.

Organizers had said up to 10,000 people might come; around 1 p.m., police estimated the crowd was about 7,000.

Leonard Grimes, a 70-year-old retired logger, said the nation is drifting toward socialism, and he’s not convinced Obama is eligible to be president.

“I’d like him to prove he’s an American citizen,” said Grimes, a registered independent who is originally from Michigan but now lives in Golden Valley, Ariz.

He called the health care bill “a joke, just another way to enslave the American public.”

Ketha Verzani, 60, said she came to the rally from her home in Las Vegas “to stand with those who want to clean house.”

The Republican opposes the health care bill and worries Americans are losing their rights, including parental rights and gun rights.

“It seems like every day more and more of our rights are being taken away,” Verzani said, sporting a Palin 2012 button to show support for the former Alaska governor who “doesn’t beat around the bush.”

Reid supporters set up a hospitality tent Saturday in the parking lot of a Searchlight casino, about a mile from the tea party rally. The Senate leader planned to spend part of the day at a new shooting range in Las Vegas with National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.

Luis Salvador, 55, an unemployed fire sprinkler fitter, drove down from Las Vegas to support Reid, who he said has done a lot for the state and doesn’t deserve the protest brought to his hometown.

“You don’t come to a man’s house and start creating a ruckus,” said Salvador, a registered independent. He and several others taped signs saying “Nevada Needs Harry Reid” to the side of a truck near the highway that runs through town.

Another Reid supporter, Judy Hill, 62, said she doesn’t understand the hatred of Reid. The longtime Democrat from Searchlight, said she thinks people just don’t know the man she calls a friend.

“They listen to the rhetoric. I think he’s very misunderstood and under-appreciated,” she said.

Judge Frederick W. Crow III and King Solomon’s Sword

No one would disagree that judges, by law, should put children’s best interests and safety foremost when they make decisions regarding care and custody.  So why would a judge not care that an Ohio County Public Children Services Agency substantiated child sexual abuse?  Why would any judge order a child into the care and custody of his or her alleged abuser?  And why would a judge punish a protective father or mother by throwing him/her in jail, depriving the child of a safe and loving parent?

On July 24, 2009 Judge Frederick W. Crow III of the Scioto Count Court of Common Pleas denied Cherish Lewis’ request for a continuance of that day’s hearing, a continuance she desperately needed.  Several days before the hearing, Cherish fired her attorney upon learning he had represented the child’s father, the alleged abuser, in a case of “sexual abuse allegations involving a minor child”.  [see the March 11, 2010 Opinion] Judge Crow ignored Cherish Lewis’ plea to hear witness testimony and review the evidence and report from Scioto County Children’s Services substantiating her child was sexually abused and naming the father as the alleged perpetrator. When Cherish refused to give her daughter into the father’s care that day, Judge Crow ordered her to the Scioto County Jail.   While Cherish’s appeal was pending, her two young children were deprived of their mother for over eight and a half months.

On March 11, 2010, the Ohio Fourth District Court of Appeals overturned Judge Crow’s decision, stating that Judge Crow “abused his discretion” when he denied Cherish Lewis’ reasonable request for a continuance and that there was “considerable prejudice done to Lewis.”  The Court of Appeals ordered her immediate release from the Scioto County Jail.  Cherish is free and her 5-year-old daughter is safe…but for how long?

In its March 11, 2010 Opinion, The Fourth District Court of Appeals remanded this case back to Judge Crow’s court for further proceedings “consistent with this opinion.”   Judge Crow has now demanded, on penalty of contempt, that Cherish appear with her daughter at 11 am on Tuesday, March 30th for a status conference.  Based on Judge Crow’s prior abuse of discretion and the case history, we have little reason to hope that he will protect this child or act in her best interest on Tuesday.  On April 10, 2009 the Fourth District Court of Appeals overturned Judge Crow’s order granting the father custody, stating Judge Crow had abused his discretion in determining the best interest of the child.  Will this child’s best interest be honored on Tuesday?

We fear that this “status conference” is Judge Crow’s next chance to wield King Solomon’s Sword:  either the child goes with the person she named in a substantiated child sexual abuse report or her mother goes to the Scioto County Jail AGAIN.  This time Cherish may not be able to successfully appeal the order and will be held in jail until she produces her daughter to the father, or in perpetuity. If she ran with her child she would not be able to continue the fight for Justice so she and her children can one day live a normal, happy life, free of abuse or on the run. Now she has attorneys who will present all of the evidence. Will Judge Crow let them?

If you were Cherish Lewis, what would you do?  And if you were that little girl, what would you be hoping for with all your heart?

There is a simple, rational solution. The mother needs to be able to show up with her daughter as ordered by the court with faith in the system. Faith that Judge Crow will act in the best interest of the child and suspend visitation with the father until ALL evidence and witness testimony of neglect, physical, sexual abuse, as well as prior substance abuse issues of the father have been heard before making a decision to place this child with him and putting her at risk of abused for a third time.  This father has a history. The ONLY thing this mother has ever done is try to protect her child.

Louisa

By BettyJean Kling and Louisa

My Louisa is making very big progress — I don’t even know where to start.

I have her brushing her hair and doing sign language and snapping her fingers and well she hugs and kisses her mommy and rubs my face and back with tenderness.

I guess you know she got the trach out because I taught her to flip the Dr. the bird right?

Well anyway I now know that she has sight and can mimic hand motions that she sees however, they are delayed. I am very excited.

Lou and I have come a very long way and I am so excited – I can hardly write this!

WE were able to get the attention and finally some help when I stopped the ER Dr. from inserting the Trach for the 5th time – I burst into the ER screaming that they had no permission to reinsert that damned thing she keeps ripping out of her throat.

The Dr. tried to remove me but I insisted that Lou could communicate and then Louisa got the chance to prove it. We were in blizzard conditions and no one was there but Lou and me – no one to stop us now!

Lou could say no (I do not want it reinserted) with 1 finger then yes (she was sure) with 2 fingers and finally flip the bird (can you hear me now) to assure the Dr. who then understood.

Indeed the Dr. understood and when the Dr. acknowledged as much – Lou placed her hand over her throat and managed a faint smile!

That did it and we were on our way! The Dr.’s they came in one after the other for days warning us what might happen and continued to warn us. They frightened us and gave us every warning they could muster but Louisa and I braved onward. I knew if she ripped it out 5 times she either could live without it or rather not live and I was damned well going to give her – her dignity. Over the next 9 days in that hospital – I barely left her side.

Since then Lou and I have managed to show them all the things we have been working on every night for a nearly a year. Louisa had earned the right to have services reinstated and NOW she finally is receiving; PT, OT and last Thursday we started speech therapy finally! After one year of solitary confinement, no therapy and never leaving her room Louisa is off life support machines, the trach, and has gone outdoors into the sunshine and yesterday I took her out of her room to meet the other patients she has lived in residence with for one year and has never met. I have made many friends there and now they know who else it is I have been visiting all year.

Part of the plan for now is that I accompany her because Lou is not yet responding to anyone else but me so I must be present but I will teach her to be comfortable with others and if not – then I will gladly stand by her side till we make it together over that finish line. Louisa and I are coming home one day.

From The Far Left Radicals To The Extreme Far Right

Many of us at The Majority United – RIDS, Republicans, Independents and Democrats belong to the Tea Party groups.

Those of us who belong to the Tea Party know that these are true “grass roots” Americans who love their families and love their country and who believe that our beloved country is heading down the wrong road!

Yes, we hate “taxation without representation”, but we understand that in order to run the government that some taxation is necessary, but what is happening in our country with some of the wrong choices that are being made by this administration and congress is reprehesible and those in Washington D.C. is flat out not listening to the People!

These men and women in congress, who were sent to do the People’s business have committed the inexcusable act of refusing to listen to their very own constituents, who voted for them and placed them into office.

This is a betrayal to the American people!

It is because of these hardworking Americans and their concerted efforts that America exists!

What is happening throughout this country with attacks that are being personally directed at the congress men and women in both parties, Democrats and Republicans was coming from “fringe groups” of the extreme far right, not the Tea Party groups as some of the far left radicals would like you to believe!

“Voter Imposed Term Limits” to rectify the unsatisfactory job of all in congress, regardless of gender or Party affiliation to unseat, remove, bounce or “kick the bums to the curb” in the 2010 Nov. 2  Mid Term election and beyond, until we remove all of the corruption in Washington!

Physical violence against the “ignorant politicians” is not the answer and it only makes things worse and it is contrary to what most law abiding Americans believe!

First, we have the Democrats taking a “swing” at the Republicans by accusing them of instigating the attacks against, Rep Gabrielle Gifford (D-AZ), House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Rep. Tom Perriello’s brother Bo Perriello.

http://congress.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/03/24/capitol-police-chief-meets-with-democrats-after-security-threats-following-health-vote/

Secondly, we have the far left radicals accusing the Tea Parties of being responsible for these attacks!  FALSE allegations!

Third, you have an attack of Republicans  House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R- VA) and Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) and who can the far left radicals blame now?

http://congress.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/03/25/republicans-target-of-threats-and-violence-from-health-care-debate/

Where exactly were the far left radicals when they were burning effigies of Bush and Palin?  Where exactly were the far left radicals when Hillary was being denigrated?

And yes, as you have all guessed, the storyline is that neither Republicans or the Tea Party was responsible for the acts committed against the Democrats!

As for the acts against the Republicans, who knows? It makes one wonder how the Democrats feel about the fingers being pointed their way?

The “fringe group” the extreme far right,  Mike Vanderboegh’s – Militant group accepts responsibility and it all started with an article in his Sipsey Street Irregulars blogspot.

http://www.myfoxillinois.com/dpps/news/dpgoh-mike-vanderboegh-urges-protesters-to-throw-bricks-fc-20100325_6741726

As we have the radical far left, we also have the extreme far right with the majority of law abiding Americans falling in the middle, between these two radical and extreme groups.

Absurd Collaborations: The abuser, the lawyers and the judge

Another Rant By: BettyJean Kling

Unemployed repeat offender 29 year old Fredrick Wood

Unemployed repeat offender 29 year old Fredrick Wood

Words fail me—I have found a report that I cannot add to nor subtract from. This beats all that I have ever seen or heard.
How in God’s name can this happen? How can this defense lawyer and prosecutor be allowed to practice? Keep in mind this deal was cut without the woman being present in court to agree to the marriage.

The Judge has been moved out of domestic violence courts and moved to a better position no doubt – he should be put in jail if this woman or her children are hurt!  Obviously this woman was forced into this situation and has previously testified that she fears for her life and that of her children – it is recorded thusly. This is the cruelest thing I have ever heard of in my entire life. He sentenced the batterer to life with his new wife!

If he kills his new wife and children and he might – this judge should serve the sentence as accessory to a murder.

A Baltimore County judge has been reassigned after pausing the trial of an accused batterer, unemployed repeat offender Frederick Wood, to marry him to his alleged victim so she could avoid testifying against him. Judge Darrell Russell Jr., the Baltimore County District Court judge assigned to the non-jury trial, performed the wedding ceremony in his chambers for defendant Frederick Wood and his girlfriend. Prosecutors say they were powerless to stop it.

“It’s very frustrating. We view very seriously the crime of domestic violence,” Deputy State’s Attorney Leo Ryan said. “We understand that very often the nature of this crime means the victims are reluctant to testify.” The officer also compiled a report called a “domestic violence lethality screen” in which the woman said she thought he might try to kill her and that he has threatened to kill her and/or her children in the past.

Late breaking news: This Judge has skeletons in his own closet- but that was pretty evident from his behavior wasn’t it?  She got the house – it took him 5 lawyers to hide the divorce records – wonder if he is hiding battery? tsk tsk tsk!

Poll: Americans Unhappy with Health Care Bill

CBS Health Care Poll

While CBS’s Poll: Most Want GOP to Keep Fighting on Health Bill speaks for itself, seems pertinent to point out that there is a significant number of Democrats that want the Republicans to keep fighting this bill. It seems the only thing bipartisan about this bill is the opposition to it.

CBS Poll: Dem’s Health Care Reforms Unwanted by American People

ACORN: New And Improved?

How exactly does one work to reconstitute, rebrand, rename,re-invent and market a product brand by the name of ACORN that could have very well been used for the benefit of enhancing the lives of those less fortunate in a positive way?

  • Former Acorn Housing – Affordable Housing Centers of America
  • California Acorn –  Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment
  • New York Acorn – New York communities for Change

Instead, we have learned over a period of time that this organization was being used in nefarious transactions that bordered on criminal activities!

The American people will be forever grateful to the 2 young filmakers Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe, who blew this organization “wide open” and exposed all of the corruption, bribery, thuggery they call ACORN!

The most reprehensible part to this whole disgusting saga is the fact that unbeknownst to most decent, honest, hardworking Americans, we have been indirectly sponsoring this nefarious organization through our tax dollars for years!

One would think that our “illustrious” lawmakers would have given the American people a heads up when it came to the corrupt activities by this organization but instead we get “lip service and rehtoric” about our duties as good Americans to help those less fortunate!

How many Americans across this country is “sick and tired” of  hearing about how we are not doing our fair share?

Americans are the most generous people in the world and yet we are not given our due worth!

After the debaucle of ACORN I suggest that more Americans should start questioning every single organization that is being funded by our tax dollars and make every elected official personally responsible.

These elected officials have promised to protect the interest of the People, it is time to make them accountable.

Unfortunately, lately they have done a “lousy job” and many will lose their seats in the Mid Term elections in Nov. and good riddance!

An article in The Washington Post, dated March 15, 2010  written: by Michael Tarm of the AP

 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/15/AR2010031500717.html

Titled:  “Acorn branches rename, rebrand after video scandle”

CHICAGO— Affiliates of the once mighty liberal activist group ACORN are remaking themselves in a desperate bid to ditch the tarnished name of their parent organization and restore federal grants and other revenue streams that ran dry in the wake of a video scandal.

The letters A, C, O, R and N are coming off office doors from New York to California. Business cards are being reprinted. New signs with new names are popping up in front of offices.

The breakaways are trying to shed the scandal that emerged six months ago when videos showed some ACORN workers giving tax tips to conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute. But while their names are different, most groups have kept the same offices and staff.

That, critics say, means the groups really haven’t started anew and severed all ties to ACORN, which faced accusations of mismanagement and rampant voter registration fraud well before the video brouhaha sent even longtime Democratic backers scattering.

Even the national office of ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, doesn’t blame affiliates for bolting from under its umbrella — conceding its entire 40-state network has been devastated by what backers characterize as right-wing attacks.

“It is true that these range of attacks do damage to your brand and your good name,” said Kevin Whelan, ACORN’s communication’s director. “The other reality is that we are starting to win some vindication on the facts. But vindication doesn’t necessarily pay the rent.”

ACORN’s financial situation and reputation went into free fall within days of the videos’ release in September. Congress reacted by yanking ACORN’s federal funding, private donors held back cash and scores of ACORN offices closed.

On Wednesday, a U.S. judge reiterated an earlier ruling that the federal law blacklisting ACORN and groups allied with it was unconstitutional because it singled them out. That doesn’t mean any money will automatically be restored, however.

For years, ACORN could draw on 400,000 members to lobby for liberal causes, such as raising the minimum wage or adopting universal health care. Locally, its activists pushed city officials to fix broken street lights and it pressured banks to offer more favorable loans to low-income Americans. ACORN was arguably most successful at registering hundreds of thousands of low-income voters, though that mission was dogged by fraud allegations, including that some workers submitted forms signed by ‘Mickey Mouse’ or other cartoon characters.

There’s a chance the national group could disband, and it, too, may consider changing its name.

“The sorts of attacks ACORN has faced as an organization are unprecedented since the McCarthyism in the ’50s, and it remains an open question whether an organization can survive that,” Whelan said. “Time will tell.”

One of the latest groups to adopt a new name is ACORN Housing, long one of the best-funded affiliates. Now, the group is calling itself the Affordable Housing Centers of America.

Others changing their names include what were among the largest affiliates: California ACORN is now Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, and New York ACORN has become New York Communities for Change. More are expected to follow suit.

The housing affiliate has lost more than most. The federal cutoff slashed its budget 75 percent, from $24 million in 2009 to $6 million in 2010. It’s closed half of its 33 offices, cut half its 250 staff and reduced numbers of low-income families it gives financial advice to from 20,000 to 10,000.

An unadorned paper sign with the new name was taped at the entrance of the group’s Chicago headquarters on a recent afternoon. But much else is unchanged: The new group is in the same offices; and the head of the old group, Mike Shea, is the head of the new one.

Still, insisted Shea, “We really have no relationship with ACORN whatsoever.”

Many opponents don’t buy it. A distinguishing feature of ACORN for years has been its complex web of affiliates, some of which shared money and manpower without ever assuming ACORN’s name, said Frederick Hill, spokesman for Republicans on the U.S. House oversight and government reform committee.

“The idea that some ACORN organizations are trying to obscure who they really are should be troubling to Americans,” he said.

A recent report on ACORN compiled by the House Republicans whom Hill represents describes ACORN as a “shell game” with a structure “designed to conceal illegal activities, to use taxpayer and tax-exempt dollars for partisan political purposes, and to distract investigators.”

To credibly claim a clean break, argued Hill, the new groups should at least have hired directors from outside ACORN.

“But I can’t tell you of a single example our committee has seen where we say, ‘Geez, it really looks like they’re purging all the individuals who are with national ACORN,'” he said.

The breakaways insist they have changed in more than just name, pointing to tougher ethics rules and better management. Shea said his Chicago-based housing group brought in independent auditors to pour through its books; all, he says, gave them high marks.

“We can prove to our stakeholders that we’ve put reforms in place and what you saw on the video can never happen again,” he said.

In the end, all the confidence-building measures may do little good when it comes to divisive, politically active groups like ACORN. Foes like Hill and a vast range of longtime detractors are sure to harken back to the old ACORN names at every opportunity.

“If a company changes its name, the hubbub eventually dies down,” said Bill Lozito, head of Minneapolis-based branding firm, Strategic Name Development. “Changing a name associated with politics is a lot tougher. People won’t let go of the original name and won’t forget.”
