Obama picks up another best friend in the world!

I just couldn’t pass this up!

Man’s worst friend?
By Dana Milbank

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

President Obama won the unstinting support Monday of one of the world’s most prominent leaders. And he is not going to be happy about it.

The dilemma becomes apparent upon revealing the name of this enthusiastic admirer: His Excellency Brother Leader Moammar Gaddafi, Guide of the First of September Great Revolution of the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. His 40 years on the world stage have included such highlights as the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. More recently, the man Ronald Reagan dubbed the “mad dog of the Middle East” showed up in New York, where he attempted to live in a tent during the annual U.N. meeting, at which he spoke 85 minutes beyond his 15-minute allotment, ripped up a copy of the world body’s charter, mused about the assassination of John F. Kennedy and suggested that the U.S. military created the swine flu.

And now he is professing Obama love. “I really endorse and support the policies that he has adopted so far,” Brother Leader said Monday afternoon in a video teleconference arranged by the World Affairs Councils of America. Gaddafi referred affectionately to the president as “our son Barack Obama,” helpfully translating Obama’s name from the Arabic: “Barakah — blessing.”

“We would like to greet the American people who voted for their son, Mr. Barack Obama,” Gaddafi, resplendent in a burnt orange cape, informed the audience watching from the National Press Club. Speaking through an interpreter, the colonel continued: “He is from Africa, from an African descent.”

From Africa? Birther alert!

Gaddafi was not done stirring up conspiracy theorists. “The Muslim world welcomed very much the arrival of Obama to the presidency, because the ordinary citizen knows that President Obama is a youth of an African descent,” the Guide of the Revolution added. “He comes from, originally from a Muslim family, maybe even of an Arab origin. . . . And at least psychologically, it was very useful.”

So, on the same day Obama’s national security adviser apologizes for telling a Jewish joke, Gaddafi declares that Obama has a Muslim family and is “very useful” to Libya. Thanks for your support, Brother Leader.

Still, by Gaddafi standards, it could have been worse. Just two months ago, he declared a holy war against Switzerland, of all places. What would he do next — a fatwa against “South Park”? Instead, he answered some questions before ending abruptly. “I think we’ve taken up enough time, and besides, I waited half an hour before you started,” he protested. “Today I’m fasting, so I should break my fast.”

Still, he gave occasional glimpses of the wacky Gaddafi, calling the execution of Saddam Hussein “really sad” and defending his view that women should be “reproducers” and avoid “male vocations.”

Those arriving at the National Press Club on Monday were given copies of “The Green Book,” Gaddafi musings on democracy and socialism published by “the Public Establishment for Publishing” in Tripoli. Soon after the appointed time, televisions in the room showed a live image of Gaddafi, with thin chin beard and mustache, squinting so much that his eyes were slits.

“Relations are really excellent” with the United States, Brother Leader reported. This assessment may come as news to the State Department, where spokesman P.J. Crowley earlier this year characterized Gaddafi’s U.N. speech as “lots of papers flying all over the place, not necessarily a lot of sense.”

Gaddafi said he wants a permanent Arab seat, with veto power, on the U.N. Security Council. He likened the Palestinian plight to what the Jews “suffered under Hitler.” He offered a plan under which Israel, stripped of nuclear weapons, would become a majority-Arab state called Isratine. “I think this is a historical — a final solution,” the colonel declared. A few in the audience chuckled at Gaddafi’s use of the Nazi phrase for the Holocaust.

Still, he saw fit to add, “I am really very keen on the safety of the Jews.”

He was even more keen on the U.S. president. “I’m sure that he will work for the good of America as an American president, but at the same time, he’ll be gaining the friendship of the Arabs and the friendship of Libya for the common interests of those peoples and United States,” the Guide of the Great Revolution judged. Further, Gaddafi called Obama’s statements on the Muslim world “popular” and praised his Iraq policy. He also was pleased that Obama “condemned the war in Vietnam” — though that war ended when Obama was 13. “This is being applauded in the Arab and the Muslim world,” Gaddafi reported.

True, he isn’t happy that Libya wasn’t invited to attend the recent nuclear summit (“it was a political blunder”). And he thinks Iran doesn’t deserve sanctions over its nuclear program (“maybe they are using it for peaceful purposes”). But Gaddafi was even willing to defend his “son” Obama’s escalation of the Afghan war. “As a military person myself, I can understand the military aspect of this,” he said, calling the troop increase “irrelevant” because withdrawal will follow.

Just what Obama needed: The mad dog of the Middle East is his new best friend.

Hey Bill, have ya any advice for Eugene and the left wing?

By American Girl in Italy on April 25, 2010 at 12:00 PM in Current Affairs

Sarah Palin, former Vice Presidential candidate and Alaskan governor, spoke at a gathering of Lane County Republicans in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, April 23, 2010.
She was greeted by someone who wanted her to know that Eugene Oregon was a “hate free zone”.

Oh really?

(note the sign mocking Palin’s “palm pilot” incident, directly in front of a slew of hateful signs)

(Notice the sign (attacking Palin’s kid over a false rumor) with “advice” misspelled – right next to the sign calling Palin ignorant –
that is completely insulting to working women everywhere -“Stay Home”. Also, in the back, “lipstick is no disguise” – so Palin is a pig?)

Hope she chokes? That’s sweet. Insult to women? How, exactly?
“Welcome to the Real America, now S.T.F.O.” –
real America, Eugene, where we hope you choke!
And what is STFO? Stay the fuck out? Nice.)

So…hate for me, but not for thee? Or would that be hate for thee, but not for me?
Or… we consider everything you say hateful, and we don’t want it here, but we can spew all the hate we want!
Or…Republicans STFU! We are the only ones who can spew hate! Yes, that’s sounds about right. Hmmmmm…

No… changed my mind. That’s still not right. This is what they are saying:*Republicans/Conservatives/Tea Partiers STFU, or we will lie, spread rumors, call you racist hate-mongers and direct all of our sexist, misogynistic, violent hatred towards you.*
There, that sounds about right.

Women of Courage:

Where are the women of courage today who will stand and demand equal representation or else? These women had so much to loose and so little resource compared to those of us spoiled brats of today who take what we have for granted off the backs of those who fought before us so we could  fritter away what they fought so hard to win!

“If Congress refuse to listen to and grant what women ask, there is but one course left them to pursue. Women have no government. Men have organized a government, and they maintain it to the utter exclusion of women. Women are as much members of the nation as men are, and they have the same human right to govern themselves which men have. Men have none but an usurped right to the arbitrary control of women. Shall free, intelligent, reasoning, thinking women longer submit to being robbed of their common rights. Men fashioned a government based on their own enunciation of principles: that taxation without representation is tyranny; and that all just government exists by the consent of the governed. Proceeding upon these axioms, they formed a Constitution declaring all persons to be citizens, that one of the rights of a citizen is the right to vote, and that no power within the nation shall either make or enforce laws interfering with the citizen’s rights. And yet men deny women the first and greatest of all the rights of citizenship, the right to vote.

Under such glaring inconsistencies, such unwarrantable tyranny, such unscrupulous despotism. What is there left women to do but to become the mothers of the future government.

We will have our rights. We say no longer by your leave. We have besought, argued and convinced, but we have failed; and we will not fail.

There is one alternative left, and we have resolved on that. This convention is for the purpose of this declaration. As surely as one year passes, from this day, and this right is not fully, frankly and unequivocally considered, we shall proceed to call another convention expressly to frame a new constitution and to erect a new government, complete in all its parts, and to take measures to maintain it as effectually as men do theirs.

We mean treason; we mean secession, and on a thousand times grander scale than was that of the South. We are plotting revolution; we will overslough this bogus republic and plant a government of righteousness in its stead, which shall not only profess to derive its power from the consent of the governed, but shall do so in reality.”

Larry King “I Agree That Sarah Palin Should Pose For Playboy”

A piece posted by Greg Hengler in Townhall Blogs on April 21, 2010 titled “Larry King thinks Sarah Palin should Pose for Playboy”.
King has crossed the line and joined the ranks of the “buffoon” Letterman!
King was interviewing Sarah Silverman and goading her into making any “outrageous statement” that “popped into her head ” about Sarah Palin and out came the Sarah Palin pose for Playboy comment and King agreed!
More sexist comments of the many that is continually directed at former Governor Sarah Palin.
The Hollywood crowd along with the rest of their political cronies just can’t resist the urge to “demean and humiliate” Sarah Palin’s person!
I am disgusted by these personalities who are the “dregs of soceity” who find nothing wrong with demeaning women and using them as “sexual objectification” for  HIGHER RATINGS!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Another Rant By: BettyJean Kling

April: Sexual Assault Awareness Month

It appears one month is not long enough to cover sexual assault awareness. As the host of BlogTalkRadio I have devoted every show this month both Monday and Wednesday nights to the epidemic that endangers our females from cradle to grave. And have even had a Ken Smith, a male sexual assault victim on.  We are taking this right on into May and will carry the problem out as far as we have to until we get women mad enough to storm the streets demanding RESPECT for Women and Children! RESPECT damned it RESPECT! No one but we Chickens are going to have the guts to take care of this problem ladies – its just going to have to be up to us.

Let’s go Gals – let’s get er done!

Meanwhile I would like your help to raise money for a filmmaker who will be our guest on May5 th.  Jim Idema of Brandella Films is looking for funds for a movie “A Daughters Hope“

In 1981, a woman by the name of Diana Lynn Harris mysteriously disappeared from her home in the Florida Keys.  Nobody has ever been found, no suspects have been brought to justice, and to this day, her daughter, Christine Hill, continues to search for answers.  Further, from her younger years and into early adulthood, Ms. Hill had been forced to suffer things that no one should ever have to endure, least of all a missing mother. Now, Brandella Films, a West Michigan-based film production company, has co-written a feature film script with Ms. Hill entitled, “A Daughter’s Hope,” which takes a fictional look at the difficulties she faced growing up; the most painful of which included the heart-wrenching loss of her mother.  Here is a link to the mini-trailer:  http://brandellafilms.com/DaughtersHopeTrailer.html

In addition, here is a link to a page on our site where people can not only see the trailer, but also recent media interviews. Included on this page is a way for people to donate as well as to participate in a fundraiser we are conducting to help raise working capital for the film. http://www.brandellafilms.com/BrandellaFilms.html

While people can’t write a donation to this production off on their taxes, it may be helpful to know that we are donating a percentage of the film’s ultimate profits to charities that handle domestic abuse and missing loved ones, including Michigan DOE’s (www.michigandoes.com) and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (www.nnedv.org). We’ve also signed the NNEDV spokesman, Victor Rivers, to our cast. info@brandellafilms.com. What’s more, we have several sponsorships available for those interested in that avenue.

We need all the help we can get- we are going to have to get the job done ourselves. So far the lawmakers are not doing it- the main stream media is not doing it – the schools , teachers and coaches are not protecting our children. The churches are not protecting our children – the advertisers are not protecting our children. The damned Judges in our divorce and family courts are not protecting our children. Child and protective services are not protecting our children.  Predators are everywhere!

So called Bible preachers are sinning left and right run out of church for cheating with both men and other women. The Pope has had to face and apologize for the sexual assaults perpetrated for centuries against children by those who they should have been able to trust and whose parents entrusted their children ‘s care into the hands of.

Pope Offers Apology, Not Penalty, for Sex Abuse Scandal

VATICAN CITY — Faced with a church sexual abuse scandal spreading across Europe, Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday apologized directly to victims and their families in Ireland, expressing “shame and remorse” for what he called “sinful and criminal” acts committed by members of the clergy.

But the pope did not require that Roman Catholic leaders be disciplined for past mistakes as some victims were hoping, nor did he clarify what critics see as contradictory Vatican rules that they fear allow abuse to continue unpunished.

“You have suffered grievously, and I am truly sorry,” the pope said in a long-awaited, eight-page pastoral letter to Irish Catholics. “Your trust has been betrayed and your dignity has been violated.” He also criticized Ireland’s bishops for “grave errors of judgment and failures of leadership.”

Girls’ sports coaches have just come under fire – exposed for abusing girls.

Dozens of predator coaches banned: report AFP) – Apr 9, 2010
There is a growing trend of sex abuse by coaches in the world of girls’ sports that is being compared (in numbers of victims) to what happened in the Catholic Church. Why haven’t we heard more about these coaches that prey until recently? What should we look for and what can we do to stop it? I fear the stories linked here are only the tip of an iceburg heading right toward our children.

Recently I watched a 20/20 Interview on USA Swimming Coaches sexually molesting teenagers in their care. Exposure of the teen molestation scandal has resulted in as many as 35 swimming coaches being banned from the USA swimming organization over the past ten years for molestation and child sex abuse.

I was disturbed to find out not much was being done to stop this from happening, and it appears to have been a growing trend for some time. According to a series of articles done in 2003 by The Seattle Times entitled “Coaches that Prey: The Abuse of Girls and the System” it’s the dark side of the growing world of girls sports. Take a good look at this series; it has everything, what to look for, actual cases, charts and statistics. It’s a real eye opener. It isn’t just the USA Swimming organizations who have this problem of coaches molesting young female atheletes, it’s every girls sport.
Misconduct often goes unpunished.

ESPN, along with ABC News reported this story and will air its own show on the swimming scandals May 2 on Outside the Lines.

Finally, while the economy crumbled, and for the last five years top financial watchdogs at the SEC surfed for porn on the internet.

At the SEC, all they thought about was SEX.
The country’s top financial watchdogs turned out to be horndogs who spent hours gawking at porn Web sites as the economy teetered on the brink, according to a memo released Thursday night.
The shocking findings include Securities and Exchange Commission senior staffers using government computers to browse for booty and an accountant who tried to access the raunchy sites 16,000 times in one month.
Their titillating pastime was discovered during 33 probes of employees looking at explicit images in the past five years, said the memo obtained by The Associated Press.
It says 31 of those probes occurred in the 2-1/2 years since the country’s financial system nearly crashed.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE enough money within her control to move out  and rent a place of her own,  even if she never wants to or needs to…  something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE a youth she’s content to leave behind…a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to retelling it in her old age… a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra… one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family… eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE a feeling of control over her destiny… how to fall in love without losing herself.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW how to quit a job, break up with a lover and confront a friend without; ruining the friendship.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW that she can’t change the length of her calves,  the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents… that her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more… how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW whom she can trust, whom she can’t and why she shouldn’t take it personally.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW  where to go…  be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…  or a charming Inn in the woods…  when her soul needs soothing.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW what she can and can’t accomplish in a day…  a month… and a year.

Enjoy your day… woman

Every Woman should have a friend like Barbara who finds just the right poem at just the right time and sends it just when you need it most!

And the best defense is still a great offense

For all the lack of hoopla out there you might have easily missed the story of Allee Bautsch, a twenty-five year old campaign aide to Governor Jindal and her boyfriend, Joe Brown being beaten outside a Republican fundraiser on Friday, April 9. Maybe it got my attention because I have a twenty-five year old daughter. The story is very well covered at The Hayride. Refer back to in Bubba Post

Hayride offers up this quote as the story was picked up by Yahoo

” Of course, even if Bautsch and Brown’s recollection is correct and the attackers did come from the group protesting the event, they can’t know for sure what their motives were.Their account of the non-political nature of the verbal assault matches the one Brown gave police and the homophobic, misogynistic nature of the insults would be unusual coming from the kind of person one might expect to protest a Republican fundraiser.

My first thought on hearing about this lead me to fear it was a racial incident as the MSM has been telling anyone who will listen that Tea Party People are not only all Republican but racists to boot. It has made me think back to my September ’08 adventure into Obama’s website and his link to The Black Snob where I found this picture of the other first black president.

Then I started thinking of Bill Clinton’s need to remind us about it being a right- winger that blew up the federal building in Oklahoma. We have also heard about Sarah Palin’s perceived attempts to incite violence by ‘targeting’ certain Democrats in 2010. Again I was reminded of my visit to Obama’s website and this picture.
And we all know how the Democrats are the only party that treats women with respect. You’ll never guess where I found this picture.

While there seems little doubt that the attack had a political motive I find reading the original police report informative.(Link in Hayride article)

“As they neared the intersection, Mr. Brown stated he heard subjects state such things as, “Little blonde bitch,” “You’re a f—–g faggot,” and You think you’re f—–g special.”

Political? Probably under the circumstances. Misogynistic and homophobic? No doubt. Hate speech? No. It would be hate speech if Mr. Brown was gay and received a broken nose and jaw and a concussion. It would be hate speech if Ms. Bautsch had been called a little black bitch and not a blonde one and then had her leg stomped on and broken in 4 places. Could “You think you’re something special” have anything to do with the “blame the rich for everything” mentality that is being used to push for wealth re-distribution?

I have little doubt that this crime was perpetrated by those at the protest. Democratic protesters of a better ilk that were duped into this need to come forward. Those who might object to the methods used by Obama to advance his candidacy need to speak up.
Those that were only too happy to see Obama take advantage of sexism, racism and misogyny if that’s what it took to win, need to stop thinking of themselves as the ‘good’ ones. You and the instigator-in-chief gave these guys permission. No, Yahoo it is not at all unusual.

Women’s Rights Not Worth Mentioning?

NEWS From Yesterday’s Washington Post

The undaunted Dorothy Height

UPON HER DEATH Tuesday, Dorothy I. Height was hailed a hero, the grande dame of the civil rights movement, an icon. She was all of those things. Yet somehow words fail to capture what was so remarkable about this woman who fought for so long, and with such tenacity, dignity and resolve, for racial justice and gender equality. Because she lived such a full life, an entire generation grew up knowing her without fully understanding the entrenched unfairness she fought against and helped to lessen. To appreciate Dorothy Height is to understand the slights she endured and the obstacles she encountered both as an African American and as a woman, and how they only spurred her life-long campaign for justice.

Ms. Height died at the age of 98 on Tuesday morning at Howard University Hospital. President Obama eulogized her as “the godmother of the Civil Rights Movement and a hero to so many Americans.” Her activism dates to the 1930s, and she played an influential, if largely unsung role, in the civil rights movement that transformed America in the 1950s and 1960s. Even though she presided over the National Council of Negro Women, a group she would head for 40 years until 1997, Ms. Height and her work often went unnoticed and unpraised. She was seated on the platform with Martin Luther King Jr. when he delivered his “I have a dream speech” at the Lincoln Memorial, but she would later express dismay that no one gave voice to women’s rights.

Such experiences enabled her to see the injustices against women and African Americans as part of the same set of American problems that needed to be addressed jointly, and not as separate — or even conflicting — concerns. And, just as she had to fight against being marginalized in the civil rights movement because of her gender, so she had to push back against being marginalized in the feminist movement because of her race. She did so not with anger or bitterness but with determined grace. She spoke of this during a book signing at the Library of Congress in 2004: “I have been in the proximity of, and threatened by, the Klan; I have been called everything people of color are called; I have been denied admission because of a quota. I’ve had all of that, but I’ve also learned that getting bitter is not the way
Ms. Height never gave up the fight. Even as her age advanced, she continued to advocate for black families, preach self-reliance and despair over the lack of voting rights for the District. Recently, when she thought a worthy tennis program for children was threatened, she put her prestige on the line. Just as words can’t fully capture her, so they fail to describe the void left by her death.
