Blackout: Is abortion ever murder to a LIBERAL?

Barbara Bassett

Kermit Gosnell is an abortionist on trail for murder and the liberal media can’t figure out how to write the word abortionist and murderer in the same sentence. They can’t figure out how to describe hundreds of infant body parts in jars, bodies in garbage bags,in freezers when they’ve spent so much time describing them as “blobs” and “masses of cells”. They can’t justify the horrific photos of infanticide by equating them to their feel good mantra of “its all about a women’s reproductive rights”. Because maybe you would question how exactly do all those bloody scenes that included the deaths, forced sterilzation and infections of women actually relate to a women’s reproductive rights.
They can’t post a photo of a born alive infant and write a obituary that says died from having his doctor make the “choice” to cut his spinal cord.
They can’t figure out how to explain why it was scissors  that murdered a 8 month “screaming” fully viable infant when lawmakers are demanding laws to protect “our children” from being murdered by guns. They can’t explain why 5 year olds murdered in school are “our most precious assets” yet a 8 month born alive murdered on a mad mans butchering table isn’t worth a damn.
They can’t figure out how to explain Gosnells comments “that this baby could walk to the bus stop” during a “snipping” procedure that is defined as “a women’s right” and not a survivors right to medical care because if you asked why no medical care for an infant born alive during an abortion
they would then have to explain Obama voted against the born alive infant protection act calling it “a burden on a mother” and they can’t do that because then you would know he did indeed do that and his mantra of saving “just one child” would be called hypocritical. They can’t explain why these minority low income murders haven’t warranted “if I had a son he would look like.. the hundreds of photos in evidence.
They can’t explain why nail salons are regulated but abortion clinics aren’t because then they’d have to explain to you that regulating  abortion clinics is refered to as “a war on womens reproductive rights” the Left uses regulation as a weapon and the Right fears their weapon.
Women’s rights groups are blacking out the  Gosnell story also because they can’t explain how  they will fight for womens right to birth control and to abortion but not for a womens right to be educated on both nor a womens right to have an abortion in a regulated facility just like a hospital as a women who chooses to deliver her baby does.
Since its all about womens rights why aren’t they speaking about her right to be protected from the monsters who prey on her vulnerability. These Women they profess to fight for are being abused.
What happened to the mantra of “legal, safe and rare”?
Some of those who have come forward were 15 years old. One describes 8 abortions and being told that was “normal” she is now in her twenties and can’t conceive. These young girls are our children and why are strangers in a “reputable” clinic advising our children on abortion without our knowledge. Ask Planned ParentHood and liberals who lobbied against parental notification. Where’s the outrage that a 15 year old girl was drugged and tied to a bed because she Changed her mind? She’s also sterile and dreams about the baby she saw born and murdered.
You’ve come along way Baby.
As I write the left women blame the right and grasp at the fear factor..shocking is there is not one mention of the horrors, plenty of “this is what happens when women are forced into back alleys by the right. Not shocking is that they would ignore the facts..this was an 20 year established legal 1.3 million dollar womens “health” clinic, Gosnells fees were as high as 1,600 hardly a “back alley’ abortion clinic and most of his patients were black low income women, white women had a seperate room as “they were most likely to report” says Gosnell.
So were are the minority leaders on the left? Trayvon Martins death warranted Sharpton, Jackson and every liberal I know to march in protest. The media coverage was non stop yet hundreds of mutilated black babies in the garbage..crickets.
And the right runs away in fear of the explosive racial keg that is.. abortion.
The silence is deafening but if they explain you get to ask questions. You get to ask WTH is a partial birth abortions? And then you would be horrified to know and even more horrified to know your taxpayer dollars fund the likes of Gosnells house of horrors.
.. and maybe the truth is many of you don’t want it explained but I believe the blackout is directed at the majority of you who are unaware of what “late term and partial birth abortions” mean The Gosnell story opens the floodgates in very graphic details, horrifying images and they all know that a story about a puppy found in a garbage bag generates outrage and they know if you knew hundreds of viable babies were found in garbage bags that would generate outrage and that outrage would force a conversation about abortions and conversations about abortions would open the flood gates
to what we are capable of and what we are capable of is  horrifying and horrifying would bring about changes to a BIllION dollar industry and effect the politicans who depend upon the millions of abortion issue voters, a political party that depends upon “the  war on women”, the hundreds of women’s groups that rely on “reproductive rights” to divide women, minority leaders who divide and profit
Because in the end its not about the women or infanticide its about politics and money and votes and GREED.
Its best you’re  kept in the dark.
But some of us are shedding light on Gosnell and we are tweeting, facebooking,  blogging so this horror opens a dialogue to who decides that a football players imaginary girlfriend is news and Gosnells House of Horrors is not and more importantly it must Open a dialogue to what is morally unacceptable.
Everyone of us no matter where you stand on the issue should be outraged for so many reasons.

Eve Ensler: ONE BILLION RISING, 2/14/13 V-Day’s most ambitious campaign yet

Eve,
I absolutely spread the word far and wide and made sure all my contacts did the same. I am writing to share how shocked I was that in all my years advocating for women and working in the filed  fighting violence against women – that this is the first time I have heard about ONE BILLION RISING! What a fantastic idea- thank you and please help me and other groups understand how to help make sure every woman and girl is aware of it in time to participate in ONE BILLION RISING 2014.

I am concerned that all women’s groups are not united and therefore our rally cries are not loud enough and powerful enough to shake the foundations of power against us. What can we do to enlist other women’s groups to engage in each other’s causes, to encourage all women to participate in every movement out there that empowers women? What can we do together to show the powers that be we really are a power to be reckoned with? As a whole, women do not present a united front; instead we are the women against violence, mothers against drunks, LGBT, Pro Life, Pro Choice, Anti War etc. etc. When will we just be the majority that we are? When will we again present ourselves as the WOMEN of America

You are absolutely right 33% of us will be beaten or raped, 4 a day in this country are murdered at the hands of a loved one who had beaten them before and was released to kill. About 50 % of us are adamantly against the other 50% politically, which mockingly keeps us politically weakened and unable to hold positions of power at home, on the job or in politics. An even larger percent ( I estimate upwards of 85%) of us is powerless financially because we are not united enough to grab and hold the power to self govern.

We stand at the point of sink or swim, we rally for particular issues and it’s like missing the forest for the trees. We are woman- we are the majority. The violence stops when we have our rights and full power. We won’t have that till we stop fighting amongst ourselves over the issues that were manufactured to keep us divided and fighting amongst ourselves. That old “a house divided against itself cannot stand” is true. Let history teach us and others that united we can overcome. We women are equal and can stand ready to lead and rule our own lives. Let’s demand respect, full equality, an end to violence can only come when we are united as the majority, powerful and voting as one block demanding full rights to self govern. Let the issues remain issues to be dealt with when we are in the position to govern but lets first get in the position to self govern.

Women’s History Month begins on Friday, March 1, 2013 (in 8 days) and ends on Sunday, March 31, 2013.

Let’s demand a slot every day in honor of women’s history!

BettyJean
Thank you for joining ONE BILLION RISING, V-Day’s most ambitious campaign yet.

When we started V-Day 14 years ago, we had the outrageous idea that we could end violence against women. Since then, hundreds of thousands of V-Day activists in audiences and on stages in over 140 countries have come together to demand an end to violence against women and girls. The funds we’ve raised together have kept organizations’ doors open, and the issue front and center in local media.

But still today, the United Nations states that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime that’s more than one billion women and girls alive today.

V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, showing them exactly what one billion looks like.

ONE BILLION RISING is a promise that on February 14th, 2013, we will ensure that millions of women and men rise up around the world to say, “ENOUGH. The violence ends NOW.”

BettyJean, there is so much more to come. But for right now, you can help us launch ONE BILLION RISING with a few simple actions:
Share ONE BILLION RISING with your networks
Sign up for our text message updates in the US by texting BILLION to 50555
Follow V-Day on Facebook and Twitter

ONE BILLION RISING will make the earth move by uniting us through dance across every country.

BettyJean, I look forward to dancing, striking and rising to end violence against women and girls together with you.

In solidarity,

Eve Ensler

Susan B. Anthony Birthday Remembrance

Are you a Feminist?

BettyJean Downing Kling

Are you a feminist? To many this sounds like a silly question, and some might respond with a statement like; “Well Yeah! If not a feminist, what does that make me? A misogynist (having a hatred of women, as a defined group)?”

Men and women alike call themselves feminists believing the term refers to respecting females and believing them equal and capable deserving the same opportunities as men. And yet describe yourself as a feminist and there is a good chance your will be misjudged!

Feminism comes with a lot more negativism than it deserves. Unfortunately not everyone has a positive opinion of the term or for what the movement accomplished for women and girls. In order to undermine the feminist movement a great number of negative stereotypes have been perpetuated; such as the man-haters, ugly, lonely, barren, angry woman who is a feminist only because she cannot find or keep a man etc. etc.

These stereotypes are intentional propaganda, plain gibberish, served up to give the so called “post-feminist” generations pause about self-identifying as feminists. Instead are we to be ashamed our foremothers fought for the right to vote and are still fighting for equality under the laws?

I suggest films like “Feminist: Stories from the Women’s Liberation Movement” are very important and serve to correct the history of women’s history and struggles. This independent film, made by Jennifer Lee (@JenniferLeeUSA) documents some significant events of the Women’s Liberation Movement of the 1960s and 1970s and reminds us of the positive changes which addressed the legal and economic obstacles facing women.

Men and women worked together to tackle issues of working women, gender roles, salary, and opportunities of women in the workforce . It is important that we tell the whole story, correct the lies instead of focusing on Bra-burning for example, which became associated with the movement, but the term is a misnomer as no bras were actually burned at the Miss America protest.

“Feminist: Stories from the Women’s Liberation Movement.”

Why are people reluctant to call themselves a “feminist”? Why aren’t we proud of what the Women’s Liberation Movement of the 1960s and the 1970s did for us?  I am making this documentary film about the significant events of the Women’s Liberation Movement so that we can remember why we’re proud of the word “feminist.”  I have traveled all across the United States and interviewed over 30 feminists who participated in the Women’s Liberation Movement – including some famous faces. The Women’s Liberation Movement was a momentous time in our history – when you see these feminists tell their stories, you will be proud to call yourself a feminist.

Why is this film important?

The fight for equality is not over. For example, today only 17% of our congress is female with only six female governors. In order to move forward and truly have equality we must embrace our history. Rejecting the word “feminist” holds us back. Hearing and seeing the stories of what these women did when they were college students during the Anti-War and Civil Rights Movements will show us how to move forward.

As a mother, it’s important to me that my child knows the history of women in the United States. Women have a rich history full of dramatic stories, tough fights, and huge successes. In order to create equality for women in the United States, we must honor the work done during the Women’s Liberation Movement.

I completed all of the interviews with my own money. The cinematographers who shot the interviews did so for free. This film is a labor of love for all of us. ~Jennifer Lee

Sexualizing our Society 1

BettyJean Downing Kling
Adapted from Sexualizing America Part1 originally Publihed 2007

SEX SELLS?
It sure does that’s why they do it! But who is doing all the buying?

Seems to me most of the sex selling is selling women and girls as objects to be used and abused by men and you would think that it appeasl mosts to men BUT, since women do most of the buying –  please explain to me why women are buying? How is selling women and girls as objects a benefit to our women? Why are our women buying the very items that lend themselves to our demise? The very items that make men rich while they demean us? Think not- think again! Stick with me over the course of my photo essay and I will unfold how they have and continue to escallate this insideous and not so secret offensive against the femle population in our society and thereby poison the the children from birth to have a skewed view of a hypersexualalized America.

Think I am exaggerating- I am going to bring you the proof! For 35 years I have harped now I am going to bring you physical proof, seeing is believing! This is what we are force feeding our children from birth. Both male and female are being normalized to believe what their lying eyes tell them about females based on what we project before them with what we wear and allow them to see as normal. Oh its normal alright and so is the resulting reprecussions of violence and abuse to our femle population now. Is this what we wanted?

Stay tuned for all 12 parts of this photo essay. Add to these images, TV programming and today’s music lyrics, peer pressure and a variety of other input that children are bombarded with from birth and you have a total picture of what they know as a sexualized and sometimes violent society.

In a society where media is the most persuasive force shaping cultural norms, the collective message that our young women and men overwhelmingly receive is that a woman’s value and power lie in her youth, beauty, and sexuality, and not in her capacity as a leader. While women have made great strides in leadership over the past few decades, the United States is still 90th in the world for women in national legislatures, women hold only 3% of clout positions in mainstream media, and 65% of women and girls have disordered eating behaviors. http://missrepresentation.org/the-film/

Just as the women under Shar’ia law accept their fate to be lower than dogs and their men believe they are the slave masters without question- we in America are conditioning our children to believe females are sexual objects and prey, rather than equals and males are sexual predators/dominators rather than equals.

So sex sells- somebody is buying it folks and it is up to us to put them out of the business of selling these ideas to our baby girls and boys!

By the way have you seen these gifts for kids: Tattoos for baby boys and Baby Stiletto’s for baby girls! Had enough yet?

Although many think that the shoes are just too cute, others believe they are hideous. Some people believe that putting high heels on a baby is perverted and will rob them of their innocence. Hayden Porter responded with,” A 3-month old baby has no idea she’s wearing high heels.”

To which I respond- every pedophile in town will enjoy the baby in stilettos! Let’s just put them on at birth and let’s make G-String diapers while we are at it – maybe tampon diapers too? Damned idiots!

Dereon Girls Ad Too Adult

Beyonce has gone too far- is she and her adult girl want to look like hookers – well that is one thing but dressing this little girls like this – it’s over the top! http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/23284914.html

All they are missing is a POLE because they are truly strippers in the making- where are their mothers? The same place most of our mothers are- with their heads in the sand while all this has been happening right under our noses. Check the clothes on your daughters and their friends – do it now!

And now for the photo essay:

These first 7 photos represent 3 from Abercrombie and Fitch using models that appear to be under aged followed by  4 on ageism which shows a contrast between the supposed sexiness of the very very young and supposed used up- over the hill unattractiveness of older women. In my opinion this not only pushes sex while you are very young, it also leads to eating disorders, depression and poor self esteem and self image. It is disparaging and insulting to older woman not to mention disrespectful.

She- prey/submissive abused/sexy. They- strong/predators/sexualizing/abusing

She- prey/submissive abused/sexualized ganged on. They- strong/predators/sexualizing/ganging on

Every boys dream (he looks 14), a blond and a brunette – one on each arm to meet his every need. After all what else are they for? So tell me what item of clothing are they selling here anyway?

Now that we’ve learned what young girls are for let’s see what happens when they age?

You do not want to look like- or act like or listen to a MOTHER do you?

Either a young sex kitten or an old bag- one or the other – only two choices for women!

Young and sexy or a disrespected ugly old bag

Is it any wonder women feel depressed when they are marketed to and purchase from manufacturers who insult them? AND the damned fools keep buying from them! Why? An old bag you can actually love? What a damned insult! Keisel should be drummed out of business tomorrow!

Female: What is she? Not easily defined even by herself.

Another Rant by: BettyJean Kling

What is a female? A Female is depicted by others everyday all day long all over the world. Does anyone anywhere even know who or what a female is anymore? Does a female even know who she is? Ask her – she will tell you who she is to someone else no doubt! Lately it has become vogue to brag about being a mother. ‘As a Mom’, ‘Proud to be a mom’, ‘A Million Moms’ ‘Just a Mom’.

I am one of those and belong to every one of those online groups and darn happy to be a mom a grand mom and a great grand mom and proud to belong to all of the mom groups as well.

I am also a US citizen and proud to be one – and a wife and proud to be one a daughter and proud to be one but I am ultimately a female and when I take away all the other labels –I remain far and away a female. I need to know that as one of 52% of civilization – and of all of the population, I am something unique unto myself as well as a part of something and someone else!

How many of us unique females have no children, husband, siblings, or parents alive. What does that make us– nothings?

I dare say we had damned well better wake up and recognize that we are so much more than someone else’s something, subordinate only to them. As proud as we are to be part of a family, a marriage, and as parents we have forgotten we are in the end individuals.

If you are a religious or God fearing individual- God made you in his image – you are responsible to him for what you do about you too.   Religious or envirionmentalists — as females we are the majority on this earth and as such we have a responsibility to be lights and good stewards and responsible to teach our daughters and our sons by example.  As an example we should not be turning our backs  away from what is wrong but we need to turn against it.

The time is now! There is a war on woman all across this world and it is up to every woman to stand up and say NO! Sadly, we spend less time on the community of women and to helping each other, which would strengthen our causes then we do on fighting each other. Indeed, it takes a village and yet we fight against other never realizing we are our worse enemies when we should be our best warriors.  Think again!

It is up to women to teach our sons and daughters that females are to be highly respected and we are to be accepted just as we are! We are not second-class citizens- not here – not anywhere around the world – let us stand up and start acting like it! We are woman first – not black women – not Hispanic – not gay- not straight – not someone’s wife or daughter first – to our own selves we need to be true!

Ask yourself — What is a female? Make sure you know your worth and be prepared to teach it to others – to your chidren!

Look at your daughters – know what a female is. When you look at your little girl – do you airbrush her perfect? Doesn’t she deserve to be a first class human being or are you raising her to be someone’s something? When you see a report of a wife missing or found dead at the hand of her husband – do you realize that could be your daughter you gave to a husband in marriage? Did you give her as a peice of property? Do you think those parents ever dreamed of such horror? In many religions, men are reared to treat their women this way and  these customs are coming here. Not that our men have not been bad enough here all along.

We are faced with two extremes regarding the treatment and condition of women right here in the US. There is a liberal or a conservative view – Sexualization or Religion both render her less than! Neither extreme is acceptable and we have no right to decide which box is right for your daughters! Human rights belong to every female and each of us is born with inalienable rights. These rights are being abrogated by man and government and it is being tolerated by the majority of our citizens in this the US an otherwise free country.

We the women of the US are not subjects of the government- slaves to our husbands nor are we subject to the churches. We are free human beings, brainwashed into submission by men who we can simply out vote by uniting against them and demanding our civil and human rights!

WHY? Because we women have not stood, up and said NO! We have hidden our eyes from the truth! Women in our society are disrespected and we can stop it now.

Women appear to be brainwashed, given only two choices, Conservative or Liberal- Madonna or the whore. It’s only natural to fear the antithesis of the box we were forced into. If we break out of these boxes and stop fighting for the same booby prizes we can achieve the main goal. Why settle to be with a big wig who can at any time toss us aside when we can be the big wig ourselves? I would rather be in control than behind someone in control of me!

1.) Jessica Alba

Have you wondered how some celebrities manage to keep their seemingly perfect figures after pregnancy? Is it the personal trainers and private chefs that do the trick? Not entirely or perhaps not at all.  It’s the airbrusher! The real Jessica Alba , months after giving birth, is seen airbrushed, note the trimmed waistline and hips.

2.) Beyonce

I wonder why Vanity Fair digitally altered Beyonce’s image to appear several shades lighter on their cover.

3.) Kate Winslet

Although denies any retouching was done for her 2008 Vanity Fair photo shoot, a professional airbrusher interviewed by the Daily Mail disagrees:  “There is no real detail in her face. Any detail or wrinkles have been removed. There are no eye bags, contours and smile lines. Her bottom has been rounded off so it looks nice and pert. I would be very surprised if her bottom was like that naturally.”

4.) Britney Spears

These side-by-side photos were taken within days of one another.

5.) Julia Roberts

The Redbook editors plucked Roberts head from a paparazzi shot taken at the 2002 People’s Choice Awards while her body was borrowed from the Notting Hill movie premiere four years ago. The clipped-together photo is accompanied by a headline that blares, without a trace of irony, “The Real Julia.”

6.) Jennifer Aniston

Wish you could have washboard abs like Jennifer Aniston after the age of 40? America’s favorite Friend does as well. When asked by host Barabara Walters what happened to the modest girl next door we used to love, Jen laughed, “She’s there! Photoshopped!”

7.) Sarah Palin

The body belongs to a 22 year-old woman known only as Elizabeth. An unemployed web site designer from New York City found the four year old pic on Flickr and pasted Gov. Palin’s head on it as a spoof for her Facebook page. And the rest has become as much a part of political yore as Swift Boat and Dukakis in a tank.

8.) Kelly Clarkson

Apparently Kelly Clarkson grew tired of Howard Stern making cracks about her ass and did something about it, or shall I say had her airbrusher do something about it.

The airbrushing later became so pronounced on her new album cover that Clarkson barely recognized herself. On a blog entry she wrote: “Its very colorful and they have definitely Photoshopped the crap out of me . . . Whoever she is, she looks great, ha!”

9.) The Women of the Israeli Cabinet

In a move straight out of Pravda, the Israeli ultra-Orthodox newspaper Yated Neeman airbrushed two female cabinet members out of a picture of the Israeli Cabinet and replaced them with two men not even in the cabinet.  The newspaper claims picturing women violates their laws of modesty but here in the States it simply violates our laws of common decency.

10.) The Dove Soap Women

Remember the Dove Soap campaign featuring “real”, full-figured women instead of the airbrushed, fake supermodels we’ve grown so accustomed to? Even when Madison Avenue ad executives try to keep it real, their itchy airbrush fingers get the best of them.

According to retoucher Pascal Dangin, these ladies were just as fake as the supermodels we so love to poke fun at. “Do you know how much retouching was on that?” he asked. “But it was great to do, a challenge, to keep everyone’s skin and faces showing the mileage but not looking unattractive.”

Gentlemen, next time your lady tells you the Hollywood ideal of beauty is impossible to live up to, believe her. And Ladies next time you think only a trollop posses for these things – think of the Israeli Cabinet members who disapeared.

Please do not write me comments about the women who pose for these- it is easy to blame women and leave the men blameless or to blame men but the truth is this: Sex sells because we have been selling women forever. For all of history we have been selling women- there are more of us then there are of them – let’s just stand up and stop it now when and where we can! ? Start with the advertisers. ‘Boycott them – but do it collectively so one gets hurt badly at a time- one at a time money talks!

What is a Female – do you know? How will you explain it to your 3 year old? Do you want to tell her she must grow up to be a mother even if her body will never make her one? Do you want to teach her to submit to a man who may beat her to death? Do you want to teach your 3 year old boy not to believe what his lying eyes tell him to believe ? She is not what he thinks she is – she is not what you think she is either!

She is a total work of art- she is every bit as valuable as the son you may have bore — act like it- fight for her right to be treated as the whole – human being she is! Do it Now!

H.J.RES.47: Removing the deadline for the ratification of the equal rights amendment

BettyJean Downing Kling

U4E (United4Equality) http://www.united4equality.com/is the architect behind House Joint Resolution 47 to remove the arbitrary time limit that Congress imposed on the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. America is just three states short of outlawing discrimination on the basis of sex.

HJ Res. 47 was introduced on March 8, 2011 to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. The day serves as a reminder that the US cannot curb human rights abuses of women and girls abroad while denying its female citizens constitutional equality at home.

SIGN ON TO OUR PETITION FOR CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT.

Minnisota Democrat Collin Peterson withdraws support suddenly, perhaps he got confused?

Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN7) initially sponsored our bill, HJ Res 47: Removing the Deadline on the Ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and just withdrew his support last night.  Perhaps he confused HJ Res 47 with HRes 47 on the Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives regarding the contributions of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Confused or should we assume he cares more about the rights of foliage than women? ~ Callie

Feminist Click Moment: You’re Against Battered Women’s Shelters?!

Georgia Platts –BroadBlogs

“We’ve got to stop those feminists from setting up a battered women’s shelter!”

So proclaimed my piano teacher in numerous post-lesson conversations with my mom. When she wasn’t grumbling about shelters she was remarking on how lovely Phyllis Schlafly’s bouffant looked alongside those long-haired feminists.

I didn’t get it. “Why doesn’t she want shelters?” I asked my mom.

Mom didn’t get it either. “I suppose she’s concerned that they don’t have the right training to run one,” she speculated.

Actually, my piano teacher probably didn’t know why she was against shelters, either. Aligned with “the F-word,” they must be bad.

None of us knew. But as it turns out, the whole family-values agenda that my teacher so revered was intent on maintaining male power and female submission.

My piano teacher was a member of my church. Back then, in the ’70s, Mormonism was in major backlash against the feminist movement. And that gave rise to a series of little “clicks,” leading up to a major feminist “click” moment for me.

In my church’s backlash, women were suddenly forbidden from leading prayer during worship services. Worse yet (to me), girls had to wear dresses to “Activity Night,” and lessons on the importance of marriage overtook other activities.

Priesthood, forbidden to women, is bestowed upon all males at age 12. If gender inequality were not bad enough, watching my late-maturing boy-peers take on that mantel seemed ludicrous. I was especially not happy when my little brother received the priesthood. Worse, my divorced mother then declared him “head of home,” presiding over my grandmother, mother and me. I wasn’t having any of it, so that befuddled notion never became reality.

The final click? The proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back? Although Mormonism gave up polygamy (“Mormon Fundamentalists” keep the tradition), from the time I was little I was taught that polygamy was the way of Heaven because, ironically, women were sweeter in spirit so there would be more of us up there. I suddenly realized that if I were the best person I could be, my eternal reward would be second-class status as a woman and marriage to a polygamous man. Heaven? Sounded more like Hell to me.

Interestingly, I attended my old congregation a while back while visiting my mother, and heard an announcement that her congregation was raising money for a battered women’s shelter! I also heard concern that “unequal spousal relationships” were a primary cause of family disintegration. Maybe that’s hopeful. I know many young feminist women who today live in peace with Mormonism. Some have even started a blog: Feminist Mormon Housewives.

Oddly, in some ways my whole trauma has an upside. I don’t know if I would have found my life calling–teaching women’s studies, and writing for the Ms. Blog and creating my own BroadBlogs–if it weren’t for my church’s formidable effort to turn me against feminism. So, in a strange way, I’m tempted to say “thank you.” Too bad the cost is so high.

NOW: Major Force Behind War on Women

BettyJean Downing-Kling

Is my tax dollar paying this scumb bag to teach our kids?

Are your tax dollars paying this scumb bag to teach our kids?

Terry O’Neil, NOW’s stunningly deafening silence, if continued, will result in the preventable deaths of women. Your failure to call out your cronies when they sexualize women gives them your seal of approval and our expressions of disgust. The major force behind the war on women is the women who will not stand up for other women!

While NOW and other liberal women’s groups are spending 98% of their time raging against anti-abortion public funding that may impact *28% women aged 15-64, that is 100% of the time they spend ignoring the problems that beset every woman all of the time.

For example: Nearly 5 women die each day at the hands of their intimate partners, 8 Million more are beaten and raped by their lovers. A woman is raped every 6 seconds in the USA.

It is estimated here that, as of 2008, about 28% of U.S. women ages 15-64 have had abortions. This figure has risen from 2.8% in 1973 to 11% in 1980, 19% in 1987, 24% in 1994, and 27% in 2001. http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/uslifetimeab.html

NOW’s statistics are a half decade out of date and remarkably low compared to the facts I have quoted. http://www.now.org/issues/violence/stats.html

**In 2005, 1,181 women were murdered by an intimate partner. That’s an average of three women every day. Of all the women murdered in the U.S., about one-third were killed by an intimate partner.

2005, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year.

More than 600 women every day in the U.S. were raped or sexually assaulted in 2006.

NOW sends out newsletter every week to beguile women about abortion and the need to hold on to the right to their own body. NOW influences women to believe this is the most liberating and fundamental issue of womanhood. Apparently rape is not a problem – you can abort the blob of cells after all.

They will alert readers of every jot and title about each lawmaker and every fart they lay. They know every piece of legislation that might take a tax penny from abortion but they can’t update the information on the real crisis – the pandemic that threatens the lives of 5 women a day here in the US or the torture of 96 a day who are battered, or the millions of women losing their children at the hands of Family Courts who are at war with women and mothers, or with sexism and misogyny rampant within the media and the Liberals and especially the Democrats.

To hell with NOW — your stunningly dangerous efforts to promote abortion to the detriment of all other issues and including all women from all ideologies are resulting in the preventable deaths, battering, torture, degradation, slavery and sex trafficking of millions of American women and children. Count up the percentage of time you spend on abortion compared to that you spend on the real problems 90% of women face 100 % of the time. Come out from you quarter million dollar paycheck, and start giving real time to real women and real needs. You admitted it yourself- “A recent poll shows abortion ‘barely registers’ among voter priorities” so why is abortion your top priority? Is that how you keep moderates and conservatives out, or how to hold on to your dwindling base?

U.S. Catholic Bishops Major Force Behind War on Women
Statement of NOW President Terry O’Neill

February 23, 2011

The collusion of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has led to an open declaration of war on the women of this country. The bishops have long sought to enshrine into law those policies of the Catholic Church that subordinate women. And they don’t care how badly women get hurt in the process.

In the last election, the bishops helped to elect legislators that would do their bidding, which includes enacting dangerous and discriminatory bills denying women safe, accessible and affordable abortion care and family planning, even encouraging hospitals to let women die in the name of ‘life.’

A recent poll shows abortion ‘barely registers’ among voter priorities, and yet Speaker Boehner has declared barring federal funding for abortion care a ‘highest priority’ — responding not to the call of his constituents but to the demands of the bishops. And it turns out abortion isn’t the only target, as evidenced by their stunningly dangerous efforts that, if enacted, can and will result in the preventable deaths of women:

Radical women stole the words feminist and choice

Another Rant By: BettyJean Kling

Dear Sisters,

If you are familiar with me and my group- you know that I was all over this country fighting for Hillary because I believed she was the very best candidate from either side running for office in 2008. I was devastated that her party sold her out but not surprised, I was disgusted that the women of her party tolerated it and like battered wives voted her abusers into office as a reward for their deplorable behavior.

I believed in her and as an Independent I believe in no party for party sake but I put country and womankind first. I never hid that from anyone. I have been a FEMINIST from birth – and I will not accept that a FEMINIST walks lockstep with any ideology set up by radical women from either side. I know I am equal to every other human being and worthy of justice and respect and I have demanded it from birth and have fought to free myself and my sisters from the second class status our brothers  have forced us to submit to in and out of the religious and political sectors.

As the majority of the population, women have succumbed to the tyranny of either the church or political rule rather than rise above either and stand shoulder to shoulder and take our rightful place in society. Foolishly they have been brainwashed into believing there is an either or choice. I have never thought choosing between column A and column B was an adequate alternative for me Pro-Life or Pro-Choice. Pro-Choice is a misnomer, I used to say I was Pro-choice before I realized it meant I had no choice but abortion. The liberals who stole the word feminist along with the word choice have one hell of a nerve refusing ¾ of the world’s women use of language rightfully theirs. As an Independent, I know the truth, but I have coined a new phrase for the preferable option and it is “Freedom of Choice”.

The right cannot fathom relinquishing their “feminine” roles, aborting their children, becoming lesbians and hating a man which is what radical women have successfully turned the women’s movement into. Thanks to the voices in the Left wing crowd who will be sure to bring abortion, gay rights and man hating to the fore to make sure they drive away most women! If they really believed in God who gives free choice and will do the judging – they would not do these things that prevent most women from enjoying the saner conservative women.

The Left cannot tolerate conservative women who are happy to be stay at home moms, have large families, and let their husbands take the lead. In that crowd, there are also radicals who must call Liberal women baby killers and dykes and must protest outside abortion clinics and some even murder abortion doctors setting up a fair shriek from the other side in their own defense.  What they don’t realize is that most women are not radical! Most women have children, husbands and professional lives these days and do it all without the benefit of fair pay, equal rights, under tolerable conditions and with the proper respect.

TMU WOMEN- have busted our buts for nearly 4 years trying to bring together those women! Women who refuse to be pigeon holed either left or right. WOMEN who are sick and tired of being labeled and boxed and forced to chose! WOMEN who are tired of watching their sister being raped in Egypt while the Radical Left and Right do nothing and the rest of us think you have NO VOICE!

Do you realize that you have a group that will speak for independent you? THE MAORITY UNITED -WOMEN, will speak for you! TMU will never ask if you are Pro anything regarding you reproduction- we don’t care how you vote either – that’s why they have curtains on voting booths!

What we do care about is your rights as a woman or child and we care that you get justice as a citizen of the US.

I have been mercilessly attacked by the radicals from both sides — I’m still standing! I will bet you there are more of us then there are of them!

If you do nothing- nothing will be done! I can’t do this alone — will you sit there and just talk and just write and just fight among yourselves and just point fingers back and forth?

We all know the problem.  I have thought of a solution! Leave the problem, the troublemakers, to their own devices while the majority unites and does the real work.

We can do this! Spread the word– I am not quitting– how about you?

Are you going to continue to let NOW speak for you, if they don’t? Will you let Family Matters, Concerned Women for America, speak for you if they don’t?
