Has it really taken nearly a year for a troop of lawyers down under to ask these questions? Pardon me but it’s a no brainer! I have been calling him a puppet since the New Hampshire primary, but even the slowest of us figured this out before Inauguration Day!

Who’s Really Running the Show?

I have been having a nagging intuition lately that something is not quite right about Barack Obama.  I am not suggesting there is something wrong with the man, per se.  Nor am I talking about the crazy, even dangerous, policies coming out of the White House.  No, lately, I have been wondering if Barack Obama is, in fact, the person who is actually functioning as President of the United States

I mean, there’s no doubt that he fills the position of POTUS but is he really the one in command?  The man actually seems lost at times.  He seems to be reacting to ideas about which he does not really have a clue.  He has left the writing of this health care bill to Nancy Pelosi’s House of Representatives and she, in turn, has farmed the writing out to several fairly radical community action groups.   When questioned about health care, he seems not to know or understand the details and even with his silver-tongue seems unable to demonstrate any leadership on the issue.

With respect to Afghanistan and the rest of our foreign policy, he seems equally lost.  Especially when it comes to dealing with other world leaders.  He makes beautiful speeches but seems to be unable to cut deals which benefit our nation.  He seems to be acting as a pawn of much more clever world leaders.

The more I watch the man, the more I see a person who appears to be the “face” of some other entity or group.  He seems like a “front man”.  And it is becoming clear that his strings are being pulled by someone else.  He does not appear to be the man in command of the ship of state.  At least, he is not in the driver’s seat. 

You might recall that people said about Bush that he was a front man for the neo-cons and that it was really Dick Cheney that was running the show.  It turns out that Dick Cheney was not as influential in Bush’s second term as many thought but, perhaps it is true that the neo-cons, whoever they may be, were pulling some of Bush’s strings.

On the other hand, with Obama, it does not appear that there is anyone who is visible to we the people or the media who is pulling the strings.  If they are there, they are not in elected positions as Cheney was.  They are better hidden than that.

We know that he has been and remains surrounded by life-long radicals,  professed communists and anti-capitalists, some of whom he has even appointed as czars in his administration.  Thirty six czars, to date.  But is it Obama who is picking the czars or is it the czars who are running the show and propping up Obama as their front man? 

I know all this may  sound crazy but, really, when you look at the man without the idolatry and media worship,  does he really look like he knows what he is doing?  Does he seem to have a direction?  Firm convictions?  Something he deeply believes in?  The more he talks  now, the more his words seems empty of content.  Platitudes about America and the American people which, when he says them, simply do not ring true.  They are words being mouthed but not believed by him.

Okay, so maybe he is really clever, is firmly moving the ship to the left while mouthing the words of a centrist but I don’t think so.  What I used to think was that he was a really slick conman who was making us watch his left hand while he was manipulating us with his right. But, now I don’t think that so much.  I think the man is more plastic than real.  Now I begin to see him as the “Great and Powerful Oz”:  a fearsome presence who is being manipulated by men behind the curtain.  And while Obama does not have strong convictions, the men behind the curtain do.  And they are moving this country down a dangerous path.  All the while, we are being distracted by Obama and what he says and does.

Okay, maybe I am simply a mildly paranoid conspiracy theorist.  Why, you might ask, have Obama up there?  Why not have one of the actual people behind the curtain run for President.  Well, being a paranoid conspiracy theorist, I can come up with an answer to that question. Those other people behind the curtain have backgrounds that are so radical that they would never have made it past the first few days of a campaign.  Additionally, they are life-long community organizers and they know what kind of face can be effective if you wish to radically change the nation.  First, you need a black man to gain the support of the vast black minority.  Second, you need a pale skinned black man so as not to be too much of a threat to white Americans.  For the same reasons, you need a mixed race man who allies himself with the poor and down-trodden.  And you need someone who speaks well enough to co-opt the language of the right and appear to be a uniter, not a divider.  Someone who sees, or at least can articulate,  both sides of an issue.  This is the kind of man you would pick to be your front man so that while you move things drastically and dramatically left, the vast majority of Americans will not believe that was the intention of the moderate appearing front man. 

Yes, Obama was a community organizer.  Yes, he could be clever enough to have all this be his idea.  But he really wasn’t a community organizer for that long.  And when he was, he didn’t do anything truly radical.  It was more a time during which he was being trained than a time when he was driven by a personal sense of commitment to anything in particular.  There are people who are now in his government who have been community organizers and radical left wing activists for 20-30 years.  These people have deeply ingrained commitments to changing the system and have been actively trying to do so for all that time.  Obama is not one of them.  

 In my view, Obama has been trained and used as a puppet by others for a long time.  His successes seem to have come too easily, as if they have been orchestrated.  His life appears to have been pre-planned.  I mean, Harvard Law Review without publishing a single paper of note.  That is unusual.  A community organizer for a short time, a State legislator for a few years, a  freshman US Senator, a convention key-note speaker, and then POTUS.  How does that happen?  A person with zero governmental administrative experience is running the entire government of the United States .

How do 1100 page documents get developed and put out in such short order?  Who is writing all these proposals?  Does it not seem that something is just not quite right here?  Forget about the specifics of the policies for the moment.  Have you seen this level of activity in the first few months of any other administration in your lifetime?   Does Obama seem like the kind of person that could manage this level of activity in so short a time?  Too much does not make sense here. 

So, slowly but surely, I am becoming convinced that it is not Barack Obama who is running the show.  The White House has been captured by a group of people who are using Barack Obama as their front man.  He is nothing but an articulate but empty suit.  We have to start looking behind the curtains to find out who is really controlling the “great and powerful Obama”.

Swiss vote to ban construction of minarets on mosques:
Nearly 70% of the nation supported the ban with women in heavier support fearing Islamification and a loss of women’s rights. Islam is not seen simply as a religion to them but more of a political position of power leading to a change in their society.

The prohibition also found substantial support on the left and among secularists worried about the status of women in Islamic cultures. Prominent feminists attacked minarets as male power symbols, deplored the oppression of Muslim women, and urged a vote for the ban.

Here in America we are already seeing changes that Islam is making to our systems that other religions do not impose on our society. Clearly these people are uncomfortable around non-Muslims so why are they coming here and expecting their children to not become Americanized on threat of death? They are not comfortable with our values yet they come- we are not comfortable with their values – we do not go live among them and expect to change them! They cannot expect to walk among us with faces covered- nor look upon our women as whores- let them be where they are more accustomed.

Turning America into another country, losing cultural values, losing national identity. Former President George Bush called it a “War on Terror.” In reality, we fight defensively against Islam’s war on Western thought, Western culture, Western religion and Western civilization. Again, Islam detests Western thought, freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Nonetheless, ’soft’ jihad continues in America with eight million Muslim immigrants in 20 years and another 10 million coming within the next two decades. We impregnate ourselves with Islam at great risk.

Last week, U.S. Major Hasan blasted 42 unarmed Americans at Fort Hood. In a London, England, Muslim “Religion of Peace” demonstration, followers sported signs:

“Slay those who insult Islam”;
“Behead those who insult Islam”;
“Europe is a cancer, Islam is the answer”;
“Islam will dominate the world”;
“Europe will pay, your 9/11 is on its way.”

Born in the 6th century by an illiterate thug named Muhammad, who beheaded his enemies, raped young girls and cut off hands of opponents – Islam adheres to mass illiteracy of its followers, violence, female subjugation, stoning of women, female genital mutilation, “honor” killings and a distinct vengeance on anyone who does not follow its teachings. Every major terrorist act from the 1972 Munich Olympic killings, to Lockerbie, to airport shootings, to unrest and tension in Western societies leads to Muslim immigrants infiltrating host countries. The Muslim idea is simple; the violent overthrow of the infidels. Muslims wish to live in free societies, but their “prime directive” advocates change toward Sharia Law, which is theocratic law. In other words, Islam rules over reason. Holland, France, England and Belgium- now in the clutches of millions of Islamic immigrants unwilling to assimilate- stand in the crosshairs of cultural suicide.

A recent Dutch study reported, “Western European and Muslim ways of life are irreconcilable.” ”Sadly, mainstream Muslims teach, accept and promote violence,” said Tawfik Hamid, a former Muslim terrorist, in his Wall Street Journal piece, “The trouble with Islam ,” April 3, 2007. “Women are stoned to death and clitorectomies promoted.” With eight million Muslims in America, their silence illustrates a deafening support for their barbaric atrocities. Huge Muslim population growth in the U.S. — What are we thinking? Look at Detroit, Michigan and the suburb of Dearborn. Muslims transformed that city into their own beachhead in America. They’ve displaced most American-citizens where they have enclaved. The same slums that descended on Holland grow in Detroit. Given enough time, more and more ‘dedicated’ Muslim groups- like the three Duka brothers at Fort Dix two years ago- will plan more new killing scenarios. It’s the nature of Islam. Are you aware that these three illegal aliens came to the U.S. through Brownsville, TX-illegally crossing the U.S. Mexican border more than twenty years ago? Are you aware that the cops in New Jersey chose to look the other way while these aliens ran loose?

The Koran states:

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies, and others besides whom you may not know, but whom Allah knows.

Influence and power marks this state of the Muslim minority. It is now your duty to overturn the governments of the non-Muslim countries into establishing Islamic authority.

Oklahoma – We salute you!

An update from Oklahoma:

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol.  The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values…!    HB 1330

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from, unless they get a green card and become an
American citizen.  They all scattered.  HB 1804.  Hope we didn’t send any of them to your state.  This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.

Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals into the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes.  Pelosi said it was unconstitutional.     1102

Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring   Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives.  Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.  More
states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida.  Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again.  HJR 1003

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns.  Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in
their vehicles.  I’m sure that was a setback for the criminals (and Obamaites). Liberals didn’t like it – But …

Muslims in 21st. Century America: Harsh Treatment of Muslim Women

Part 6: how Muslim men treat their women, clashing cultures of Middle East and West, silent-assertion’s ultimate dilemma

Unfortunately, Islam abhors equality for women. Each year, in alliance with Sharia Law, thousands of Muslim husbands and sons kill their wives and daughters in accordance with “honor killings.” They behead them, strangle them, stone them and shoot them. If a Muslim woman suffers rape, Muslim men blame the woman. Then a father, husband or son may kill that woman for dishonoring the family. On average, over 5,000 Muslim women suffer death annually at the hands of Islamic honor killings.

Islam also mandates an ancient ritual called ‘female genital mutilation’. This custom, performed on their young girls, cuts and mutilates the vital sexual being out of the woman, usually before age nine. The butchery proves painful with no anesthetic and devastating for a lifetime for the woman! In some cases, the child dies from infections from the procedure carried on with crude instruments such as glass or razor blades. After the operation, she cannot enjoy any intimate fulfillment for the rest of her life.

According to Sharia Law, Muslim women found guilty of some error in personal conduct may be stoned to death. Muslim women cannot vote, drive cars or leave their homes without a family male escort. They must cover their bodies and heads with a burka. In many parts of the Middle East, they must cover their faces completely while in public. You’ve seen it on TV!

In effect, they must bow to the total subjugation of Muslim men. They cannot speak nor may they enjoy a voice in their societies. They must defer to men in public and private at all times. A Western person might call it misogyny in the extreme.

Brutal aspects of Sharia Law from the Koran:

1. Husbands may hit their wives even if the husbands merely fear high-handedness in their wives. The Quran in Sura 4:34 says: “If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them, then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. Allah is most high and great.”

In the United States, this action would be considered assault and battery, as well as wife abuse: punished by a fine and jail time.

2. A man may be polygamous with up to four wives. The Quran in Sura 4:3 says: “And if you be apprehensive that you will not be able to do justice to the orphans, you may marry two or three or four women whom you choose.”

Such behavior stands in violation of all U.S. laws. No one in the United States may marry two, three or four women.

3. Arranged marriages and marrying anyone under the age of 17 violates U.S. laws and most state laws. In Sharia Law, mature men are allowed to marry prepubescent girls. The Quran in Sura 65:1: “Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their prescribed waiting-period and count the waiting-period accurately. And if you are in doubt about those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, their waiting period is three months, and the same applies to those who have not menstruated as yet.”

Having sex with anyone under 17 in the United States stands as statutory rape and violates U.S. law. In Sharia Law, men may consummate sex with girls nine to 12.

4. A husband has sex with his wife, as a plow goes into a field. The Quran in Sura (Chapter) 2:223 says: “Your women are your fields, so go into your fields whichever way you like.”

Within the United States, a woman has the right not to be mistreated during intimacy. She stands equal in a court of law, but Sharia Law, her standing remains only half that of a man.

The oppression of women that Islam advocates not only disturbs Americans, but stands in direct contrast with everything that Western civilization stands for when it comes to the rights of women.

“Immigrants devoted to their own cultures and religions are not influenced by the secular politically correct façade that dominates academia, news-media, entertainment, education, religious and political thinking today,” said James Walsh, former Associate General Counsel of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. “They claim the right not to assimilate, and the day is coming when the question will be how can the United States regulate the defiantly unassimilated cultures, religions and mores of foreign lands? Such immigrants say their traditions trump the U.S. legal system. Balkanization of the United States has begun.”

MUSLIM HONOR KILLINGS IN 21ST CENTURY AMERICA

With Islam gaining an ever greater foothold in America, we will see more and more advocates for Sharia Law. That which most Americans find distasteful and barbaric—already manifests in the United States with 7 to 8 million Muslims. We will see violent treatment of more and more women and suffer more and more court cases of Muslim men as they kill their wives and daughters for disobeying them.

Fox News, January 1, 2008 reported a Muslim honor killing in Garrett, Texas when a 12 year old girl and her sister called 911, screaming, “My dad shot me; I am dying.” She and her sister died before an ambulance arrived. Reason: father didn’t like them wearing western jeans and blouses. “Honor Killing in Texas” by Robert Spencer, 01/08/2008. “Amina Said, 18, and her sister Sarah, 17, smile happily in one widely circulating photo, and Amina is wearing what looks like a sweatshirt bearing the name “AMERICAN.” But their fate may have been the herald of a new, disquieting feature of the American landscape: honor killing. Amina and Sarah were shot dead in Irving, Texas, on New Year’s Day. Police are searching for their father, Yaser Abdel Said, on a warrant for capital murder.”

In Clayton County, Georgia, January 26, 2009, a Pakistani immigrant father, Chaudry Rashid strangled his daughter for not accepting his choice of a husband. She wanted a divorce. She was 14 when she died. “Man Accused Of Killing Daughter For Family Honor” by Jamie Tarabay of NPR. “Honor killings are old rites of murder within families, committed because of some perceived dishonor or shame. The United Nations estimates around 5,000 deaths occur each year — mostly of women, mostly in South Asia and the Middle East.”

In New York, February 16, 2009, FOX News, Joshua Rhett Miller reported, “The estranged wife of a Muslim television executive feared for her life after filing for divorce last month from her abusive husband,” her attorney said — and was found beheaded Thursday in his upstate New York television studio. Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37, was found dead on Thursday at the offices of Bridges TV in Orchard Park, N.Y., near Buffalo. Her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, has reportedly been charged with second-degree murder. “She was very much aware of the potential ramification of her filing for divorce might have,” said attorney Elizabeth DiPirro, whose law firm represented Aasiya Hassan in the divorce proceeding. “But she wanted to proceed despite the potential for it to erupt.”

Not only their women! I have a graphic series of pictures of a Muslims father placing his eight year old child’s arm under a truck tire and then, the truck proceeds to crush the child’s arm and mangle it. Islamic Law dominates its adherents with fear and futility. If a drunken Muslim drives over five people resulting in their deaths, he will be arrested for breaking of the law. But Muslims call it, “Allah’s will” and will not condemn him. The reason you heard nothing from Muslims in America concerning the Fort Hood massacre stems from the fact that their belief system says that Major Hasan followed “Allah’s will.” If they question Allah’s will, they will become non-believers and subject to brutal consequences from Allah.

n Western thought, you could call it a “Catch 22″. For the United States and much of Europe, we find ourselves in a cultural “Catch 22″, and, at some point, it will boil into violence. As I said, Mark Twain’s ’silent-assertion’ cannot continue without a response. Islam in America, at some point, will cause violent confrontation. If not confronted, Islam will become the new cultural paradigm in America: thus taking Western civilization back into the Dark Ages of the 6th century where Islam began.

From the BBC -UN unveils Network of Men to fight abuse of women

Ban Ki-moon said men’s attitudes to women needed to change UN chief Ban Ki-moon has unveiled a Network of Men Leaders to act as male role models in a campaign opposing violence against women. He urged all men to join the campaign, saying about 70% of women experience some form of physical or sexual violence from men. The 14 men currently in the network include Spanish PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Wednesday is the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women. This is the 10th anniversary of the founding of the day. ‘Global chorus’ Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho and Norwegian Justice Minister Knut Storberget are also among those chosen for the new list. They had all demonstrated a commitment to oppose violence against women, said Mr Ban, adding that the group was expected to grow. “These men will add their voices to the growing global chorus for action,” he said.

Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, the secretary-general called on men and boys around the world to join the campaign. Women are most at risk from violent partners or a man they know “Break the silence,” he said. “When you witness violence against women and girls, do not sit back. Act. Advocate. Unite to change the practices and attitudes that incite, perpetrate and condone this violence.” He said it was unacceptable that so many women experienced some form of physical or sexual violence from men – mostly from their husbands, intimate partners, or someone they knew.

He said men must teach each other that real men do not violate or oppress women – and that a woman’s place is not just in the home or in the fields but in schools, offices and boardrooms. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the South African Nobel Peace Laureate, said: “You are a weak man if you use your physical superiority to assault and brutalise women.
“I will continue fighting until the end of my days for the right of women and girls to live a life free from violence and abuse.”

Like Obama, I am a graduate of Harvard Law School. I too have Muslims in my family. I am black, and I was once a leftist Democrat. Since our backgrounds are somewhat similar, I perceive something in Obama’s policy toward Israel which people without that background may not see. All my life I have witnessed a strain of anti-Semitism in the black community. It has been fueled by the rise of the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan, but it predates that organization.

We heard it in Jesse Jackson’s “HYMIE town” remark years ago during his presidential campaign. We heard it most recently in Jeremiah Wright’s remark about “them Jews” not allowing Obama to speak with him. I hear it from my own Muslim family members who see the problem in the Middle East as a “Jew” problem.

Growing up in a small, predominantly black urban community in Pennsylvania, I heard the comments about Jewish shop owners. They were “greedy cheaters” who could not be trusted, according to my family and others in the neighborhood. I was too young to understand what it means to be Jewish, or know that I was hearing anti-Semitism. These people seemed nice enough to me, but others said they were “evil”. Sadly, this bigotry has yet to be eradicated from the black community.

In Chicago, the anti-Jewish sentiment among black people is even more pronounced because of the direct influence of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. Most African Americans are not followers of “The Nation”, but many have a quiet respect for its leader because, they say, “he speaks the truth” and “stands up for the black man”. What they mean of course is that he viciously attacks the perceived “enemies” of the black community white people and Jews. Even some self-described Christians buy into his demagoguery.

The question is whether Obama, given his Muslim roots and experience in Farrakhan’s Chicago, shares this antipathy for Israel and Jewish people. Is there any evidence that he does. First, the President was taught for twenty years by a virulent anti-Semite, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. In the black community it is called “sitting under”. You don’t merely attend a church, you “sit under” a Pastor to be taught and mentored by him. Obama “sat under” Wright for a very long time. He was comfortable enough with Farrakhan Wright’s friend to attend and help organize his “Million Man March”. I was on C-Span the morning of the march arguing that we must never legitimize a racist and anti-Semite, no matter what “good” he claims to be doing. Yet a future President was in the crowd giving Farrakhan his enthusiastic support.

The classic left wing view is that Israel is the oppressive occupier, and the Palestinians are Israel’s victims. Obama is clearly sympathetic to this view. In speaking to the “Muslim World,” he did not address the widespread Islamic hatred of Jews. Instead he attacked Israel over the growth of West Bank settlements. Surely he knows that settlements are not the crux of the problem. The absolute refusal of the Palestinians to accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state is the insurmountable obstacle. That’s where the pressure needs to be placed, but this President sees it differently. He also made the preposterous comparison of the Holocaust to Palestinian “dislocation”.

Obama clearly has Muslim sensibilities. He sees the world and Israel from a Muslim perspective. His construct of “The Muslim World” is unique in modern diplomacy. It is said that only The Muslim Brotherhood and other radical elements of the religion use that concept. It is a call to unify Muslims around the world. It is rather odd to hear an American President use it. In doing so he reveals more about his thinking than he intends. The dramatic policy reversal of joining the unrelentingly ant-Semitic, anti-Israel and pro-Islamic UN Human Rights Council is in keeping with the President’s truest albeit undeclared sensibilities.

Those who are paying attention and thinking about these issues do not find it unreasonable to consider that President Obama is influenced by a strain of anti-Semitism picked up from the black community, his leftist friends and colleagues, his Muslim associations and his long period of mentorship under Jeremiah Wright. If this conclusion is accurate, Israel has some dark days ahead. For the first time in her history, she may find the President of the United States siding with her enemies. Those who believe as I do that Israel must be protected had better be ready for the fight. We are.

Burqa Barbie: Boycott Mattel, rebuke Save the Children

In response to my letters of concern regarding Burqa Barbie to both ‘Mattel’ and ‘Save the Children’ I got the following

Reply email from Save the Children:  

Thank you for sharing with Save the Children your concerns over the recent auction of an exhibition piece featuring Barbie dolls.

The doll clad in a burkha was one of 10 Barbie dolls clothed by an Italian designer/artist as her personal expression of costumes from around the world.  The designer/artist’s set of 10 Barbies, each clad in different dress, was among the 500 Barbies representing different cultures that were auctioned at a charity event in Italy.  The dolls are not available for sale in any store. 

As you may know, proceeds from that event will be used to help support Save the Children’s global Rewrite the Future campaign to bring education to children affected by conflicts.  Over the past three years, with our global donors’ generosity, Save the Children has helped more than 10 million girls and boys in places of war and strife receive a better education, and has helped more than 1 million children gain access to school, which is equivalent to opening two schools every day.

Save the Children does not take a position on the designer/artist’s personal expression, and as a non-religious, non-sectarian organization is dedicated to serving vulnerable children in need worldwide regardless of theirs or their families’ cultural or religious beliefs.

Dear Mattel,

Thank you for responding, but you have not answered any of my questions, least of all my concerns that Mattel has put its name on a Barbie dressed in Hajibs and Burqas.  It seems you are just playing the Blame game, it’s the designers fault.

Mattel takes no responsibility that they approved the final design of the Burqa Barbie, that they produced the Burqa Barbie and added the Mattel stamp of approval to Burqa Barbie. Barbie is Mattel and Burqa Barbie is Mattel.

My organization PUMA PAC strives to bring awareness to the suppression of women around the world. One of the most suppressive garments on the planet is the Burqa. To label the Burqa as  “A Cultural Dress” and show case it as a costume or a fashion trend along side of a sari or a  sarong  ignores the fact that a woman in a burqa is a woman who is living in an isolation chamber. Unable to see, and walk properly, she is denied vitamin D from the sun. A woman in a burqa is denied the right to drive a car, she is not driving a pink Barbie sports car, she is denied the right to an education there are no Barbie lawyers, pilots and astronauts under the burqa and more importantly she is  denied the right to the freedom of choice, a burqa is mandatory and if she choices to forgo the wearing of the isolation chamber she will be flogged or stoned.

The burqa is a symbol of the violation of civil rights of women.

Another in correct fact in your email is that “Barbie has no religious affiliation” and that is how it should be. However, Mattel has by virtue of Barbie wearing a hijab and a burqa affiliated her with the Islamic religion. Burqa and Hijab Barbie are either Muslim or they are living under Islamic law. No other religion, culture, government commands a woman be covered from head to toe other than Islam.

The purpose of writing to you in masse was to prevent any plans Mattel might have to make commercial  the Burqa Barbie, since Iran is the third largest toy importers and Barbie in her bathing suit is banned in Iran, but Barbie in a burqa or a hijab could be a huge source of revenue for Mattel.

The fact remains Burqa Barbie was produced by Mattel and was sold at auction to generate funds for Save the Children, a charity that Neil B. Friedman, the President of the Mattel Brands Division at Mattel, Inc. is on the board of directors.  That fact remains that a charity, Save the Children, that works to protect and educate children did profit from the auction of Burqa Barbie off the backs of the girls I believed they worked to save they did profit.  The end does not justify the means. They approved of and sold a doll that seeks not to inspire girls but rather sends the message to girls that to be uneducated and sub missive and abused is acceptable to a civilized society. They sent a message to the boys who grow up to be the men who abuse women that it is acceptable in a civil society. 

Seriously what was Save the Children thinking? They above all should be aware that the burqa is a symbol of the denial of human rights for women.  

And finally, you could have produced an email that at least sounded sincere to the thousands of us who wrote you with concerns that Mattel was using Barbie not to inspire girls but to suppress girls.

Dear Mattel,

The Burqa is not a “costume” nor is it a “dress” The burqa is an isolation chamber, the women cannot see, nor walk properly. The burqa is a symbol of uneducated, sub missive and abused women. To showcase Barbie “clad” in a burqa along side of a sarong or a sari and call it “A Cultural Dress” is a disservice to the millions of women who are forced to wear the burqa or face a flogging or a stoning.

By showcasing this horrific clothing you send a message to the girls you strive to save that being uneducated, sub missive and abused is acceptable, more importantly you send a message to the boys who will grow up to be the men who abuse women that it is acceptable in a civil society to abuse girls and women.

The problem is you did not take a stand on the artist personal expression. At the very least your stand should have been Save the Children will not associate itself with a doll that undermines its mission. The end does not justify the means. And as a “non-religious, non-sectarian organization” why would you consider Barbie in a burqa to be either non-religious or non sectarian? No other religion but Islam commands a woman to cover herself from head to toe. The burqua is also a symbol of Islamic fundamentalist Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

financial gain above the needs of the children whose mission it is to save regardless of cultural or religious beliefs. However when the children who need saving depend upon you to speak against that culture or religious belief in order to be saved I expect you to do just that. Speak UP against it.

A huge blunder was made by Mattel whose President sits on the board of Save the Children and to blame artistic expression is not accepting responsibility for the choice to put both the Mattel and Save the Children stamp of approval on it.

Apologize to the women you have offended and then speak against the human rights violations the burqa represents and in the future be more aware of the choices you make on behalf of the children you represent.

I thought you may like to see what is under the veil. This is what children need to be saved from and the sooner organizations such as yours become aware of it the sooner we can begin to Save the Children.

Senator Barrasso “This type of legislation would have cost my wife her life”

Senator Barrasso brings an interesting perspective to the health care debate as doctor/orthopedic surgeon. However, it is his experience as the husband of a breast cancer survivor that provided one of the most compelling moments of last Saturday’s health care debate from the Senate floor. Senator McCain asked Senator Barrasso about how advisory boards factor into the proposed health care legislation…

Mr MCCAIN. Now that is a nice academic discussion. But I would ask-maybe Dr. Barrasso would answer it-isn’t that the kind of advisory board this legislation could put into law; that those kinds of mandates could come down, which could literally jeopardize the health and lives of Americans?

Mr. BARRASSO. Mr. President, I would say to my colleague and friend from Arizona, this type of legislation would have cost my wife her life. She is a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed by a routine screening mammogram. She was in her forties when that mammogram was performed. She went through the testing and had the operation. In that age, in her forties, she already had the breast cancer spread from her breast to one of the lymph nodes. It was a screening mammogram that saved her life. She has had three operations, two bouts of chemotherapy. As a result, she is a survivor-6 years later.

But this piece of legislation says: No, no, do not worry about it. There is not going to be any denial of care. There is not going to be anything like that. But if you turn to page 1,150, it talks specifically about this preventative task force, specifically saying when they make their recommendations there is going to be money that taxpayers are going to pay to tell people what those recommendations are. Then, if you go to page 1,190, it says that if it is not approved, they will deny payment for that service-deny payment.

What will and won’t be covered in a government-run health insurance option is no minor issue. Two seperate panels in the last week have suggested less cancer screening, the most controversial of which stated that women in their forties don’t need mammograms. As Senator Barrasso can attest, that could cost some women their lives. Supporters of this bill owe the American people a better explanation of the nuts and bolts of this plan; probably more to the point, they owe the American people a better bill.

Louisiana Purchase: November 2009

First purchased in 1803 for 15 million bucks – we negotiated for land that encompased  14 states!

The U.S. paid 60 million francs ($11,250,000) plus cancellation of debts worth 18 million francs ($3,750,000), a total cost of 15 million dollars for the Louisiana territory.^[1][2][3]

The Louisiana Purchase encompassed all or part of 14 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. The land purchased contained all of present-day Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, parts of Minnesota that were west of the Mississippi River, most of North Dakota, nearly all of South Dakota, northeastern New Mexico, the portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado east of the Continental Divide, and Louisiana west of the Mississippi River, including the city of New Orleans. (The Oklahoma Panhandle, and southwestern portions of Kansas and Louisiana were still claimed by Spain at the time of the Purchase.) In addition, the Purchase contained small portions of land that would eventually become part of the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The land included in the purchase, doubled the size of the United States, which comprises around 23% of the territory of the United States today.^[2] The population was estimated to be 97,000 as of the 1810 census.^[4]

The purchase was a vital moment in the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. At the time, it faced domestic opposition as being possibly unconstitutional. Although he felt that the US Constitution did not contain any provisions for acquiring territory, Jefferson decided to purchase Louisiana because he felt uneasy about France and Spain having the power to block American trade access to the port of New Orleans.

Sen. Harry Reid Offers Sen. Mary Landrieu $100 Million For Her Vote

Needing every Democrat vote later today, Sen. Harry Reid dealt from the bottom of the political deck. After all, when you have a close vote on a controversial bill, playing with taxpayer dollars is no issue.

On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.” SEC. 2006. defines which “states” would qualify, stating that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”  The section applies to exactly one state, Louisiana.

How much does it cost?  According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office: $100 million.

Here’s the language: 

SEC. 2006. SPECIAL ADJUSTMENT TO FMAP DETERMINATION FOR CERTAIN STATES RECOVERING FROM A MAJOR DISASTER.

Section 1905 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1396d), as amended by sections 2001(a)(3) and
2001(b)(2), is amended- (1) in subsection (b), in the first sentence, by striking ‘’subsection (y)” and inserting ‘’subsections (y) and (aa)”; and (2) by adding at the end the following new subsection:

”(aa)(1) Notwithstanding subsection (b), beginning January 1, 2011, the Federal medical assistance percentage for a fiscal year for a disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State shall be equal to the following:

‘(A) In the case of the first fiscal year (or part of a fiscal year) for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), increased by 50 percent of the number of percentage points by which the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year after the application of only subsection (a) of section 5001 of Public Law 111-5 (if applicable to the preceding fiscal year) and without regard to this subsection, subsection (y), and subsections (b) and (c) of section 5001 of Public Law 111-5.

”(B) In the case of the second or any succeeding fiscal year for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection for the State, increased by 25 percent of the number of percentage points by which the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection.

”(2) In this subsection, the term ‘disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State’ means a State that is one of  the 50 States or the District of Columbia, for which, at any time during the preceding 7 fiscal years, the President has declared a major disaster under section 401 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and determined as a result of such disaster that every county or parish in the State warrant individual and public assistance or public assistance from the Federal Government under such Act and for which- ”(A) in the case of the first fiscal year (or part of a fiscal year) for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year after the application of only subsection (a) of section 5001 of Public Law 111-5 (if applicable to the preceding fiscal year) and without regard to this subsection, subsection (y), and subsections (b) and (c) of section 5001 of Public Law 111-5, by at least 3 percentage points; and ”(B) in the case of the second or any succeeding fiscal year for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection by at least 3 percentage points.

”(3) The Federal medical assistance percentage determined for a disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State under paragraph (1) shall apply for purposes of this title (other than with respect to disproportionate share hospital payments described in section 1923 and payments under this title that are based on the enhanced FMAP described in 2105(b)) and shall not apply with respect to payments under title IV (other than under part E of title IV) or payments under title XXI.”
