Politico Notes the Obvious Media Bias

Politico, in a well written article, notes the double standard that exists with the Obama administration and the media. Worth a read, the point should be less about sympathy for the Bush administration, and more about the media’s complete lack of objectivity…

What if Bush had done that?

A four-hour stop in New Orleans, on his way to a $3 million fundraiser.

Snubbing the Dalai Lama.

Signing off on a secret deal with drug makers.

Freezing out a TV network.

Doing more fundraisers than the last president. More golf, too.

President Barack Obama has done all of those things — and more.

What’s remarkable is what hasn’t happened. These episodes haven’t become metaphors for Obama’s personal and political character — or consuming controversies that sidetracked the rest of his agenda.

It’s a sign that the media’s echo chamber can be a funny thing, prone to the vagaries of news judgment, and an illustration that, in politics, context is everything.

Conservatives look on with a mix of indignation and amazement and ask: Imagine the fuss if George W. Bush had done these things?

And quickly add, with a hint of jealousy: How does Obama get away with it?

  1. I think the question everyone should be asking:

    The Obama administration inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression, or the economy turned out to be worse than they thought. Which is it?

    Because they are playing both sides of that argument and getting away with it and you cannot tell me one journalist in the main stream media has not picked up on that, surely??

    Also, they left out another thing in that article, if the Bushes had left there dog out of the offical ‘family’ portrait, I’m pretty sure the animal right activists would have been camping on the front lawn calling yelling about discrimination about dogs….its sad, but I’m serious about that last point

  2. I love dogs, too. They are the most honest people I know. They show their happiness, displeasure, step on their toe they forgive, cry and they lick tears, and if they want to bite you, they tell you that, too.

    I am convinced that God gave us dogs to teach us how to truly be human.

    That said, I read the op on media bias with amusement, this is nothing new, nothing that started with Obama.

    Media admits they are something like 97% “liberal, any modicum of objectivity stopped somewhere before 1965.

    Talk radio claims “con servatism.” They lie, they are RINO apologists, their role to get the treacherous GOP back into power.

    Faux, pretends “fair and balanced,” a good example is health care, they argue the “other side” of “yes.”

    The rest of media, ariwaves or print are unabashedly left wing as in off the cliff socialist left.

    If media tells me the sky is blue, I go out and check. If media says for example, some version of “Palin is a moron, Ron Paul is a nut, Alan Keyes is a religious right wing nut, ” I see that as their badges of honor.

    Anyone media does not like, recognizes or goes on a campaign to destroy, I think “Yes! THAT’S my candidate!”

    Media lies. By commission and ommission. “75,000 radical discontented wingnuts in DC, paid to be there by the RNC.”

  3. an email, timely for this subject:

    If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter
    installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have
    laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and
    is
    really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

    If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take
    Laura
    Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

    If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM
    stock
    by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have
    approved?

    If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special
    Olympics, would you have approved?

    If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and
    incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful
    and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

    If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing
    videos
    of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic
    and tacky?

    If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you
    have
    approved?

    If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the
    non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a
    minor
    slip?

    If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with
    people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you
    have approved?

    If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco
    de
    Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May
    (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you
    have winced in embarrassment?

    If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have
    hammered
    him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce
    he
    is?

    If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a
    single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

    If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low
    over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan
    causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually
    get what happened on 9-11?

    If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims
    throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in
    New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue
    with claims of racism and incompetence?

    If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report
    directly to
    him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in
    America ,
    would you have approved.

    If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major
    corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so,
    would you have approved?

    If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had
    taken
    more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have
    approved?

    If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10
    years, would you have approved?

    So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant
    and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in
    5 months — so you’ll have three years and seven months to come up with an
    answer.

    ~~~Comment, mine: No, Bush was not a moron but that does not mean that his policies were all that great.
    Under his admin, many unconsitutional laws and E.O.s were issued.
    He bought into a global economy and continued the exporting of our economy policies started in earnest with his father and continued thru teh Clinton years.
  4. And the “love fest” continues! It was amazing how mainstream media snapped right out of their reverie when they decided to come to the aid of Fox News!
    This reminds me of the folk song that Pete Seeger and Joe Hickerson wrote “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”
    Where Have All the True Journalist Gone? The bias and the one sided ‘favorama” is stifling!
    What happened to objectivity, what happened to just being honest and truthful and leaving the biased attitude at home?
    One of these days, the media is going to wake up and hopefully, before it is too late! Unfortunately for media, all should have adhered to “Don’t burn your bridges behind you!” Let’s put it this way, don’t expect the American People to be waiting around for all of you to come out of the “kool aid” induced state and to start acting like “real journalist”!
    Time to take off those “blinders” and make the man accountable for his INABILITY TO GOVERN THIS COUNTRY! Instead of giving the man a pass for everything that he has failed to accomplish and the so called TRANSPARENCY is nowhere to be found and you all know it!
    Let’s face it, media can deny it all they want but, you can’t tell me that they are thrilled with the fact that the man has been a GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT!
    Now, it is a matter of pride with those in the media, they tied themselves to the man, now they have to live with the choice they made!
    Those who are deaf, dumb and blind tell me, give him time, he has a lot to “change” and accomplish and it is still early in his presidency.
    Spare me the ideological rhetoric, if he continues on the path that he is presently on, he and his cronies including those in the media will manage to ultimately, destroy America and the American People in the process!
    To all those “rabid reporters” out there, hold the man and his administration and his cronies and those in congress ACCOUNTABLE and stop using the comparison excuse of George W. for BO’s INABILITY TO GOVERN!
    The American People are more concerned with present issues, wasteful spending, healthcare debaucle, cap and trade scams, housing scams, ACORN corruption, bailouts, corruption in Washington, deprivation of the People’s freedoms and Constitutional rights, the list is endless!
  5. Last night O’REilly presented both sides of “Orly is nuts,” fair and balanced in effect, “Yes she is and anyone who believes her is nuts, too.”
    My email to the globalist apologist this morning:
    To: oreilly@foxnews.com
    Re: Orly/Obama and eligibility
    Mr. O’reilly:
    Fair and balanced? BALONEY.
    Pithy enough?
    • I agree with you that Fox isn’t Fair and Balanced either, but I do think they are probably the only network right now (with the possible exception of Jake Tapper from ABC) that would ever ask President Obama a difficult question.
      Also agree that media bias isn’t new, but I do think become media bias on steroids with the Obama administration. If it weren’t serious it really would be comical at how silly their puppy love for him has become.
  6. Read Neilmuller, boogie.
    Media may be out to kill the country but that does not mean THEY are suicidal.
    As they say, strange bedfellows in a very ironic way:
  7. Reading The Bib and listening to her on the radio show takes me back to Christian Radio. Lots of similar stuff – One World Government etc etc.
  8. Did you ever listen to Christian radio or are you taking it on some guru’s word?
    Never been a listener there myself, what I have caught is more about end days than NWO.
    In any case, one need not consider anything else but the impending copenhagen treaty to realize theory and “theorists” are no longer in the theoretical realm.
    If you would like to read the text of the “treaty,” more aptly named “unconditional surrender,” (gee, you didn’t know we were at war), go here:
    To the others here, please follow link and consider signing the repudiation as well as spreading the word.
    The wording is the real deal, it is a declaration of a “Hell No! We won’t go!” as opposed to pleading w/ a federal gov’t who has no intention of listening/
