Obama honors Nobel winner by tooting his own horn

By: Barbara

This is too good to not comment about. I don’t know if the tears are from laughter, from pain or from hysteria!

There was an extraordinary scene at the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo Friday morning.  The prize went to imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo, who was barred by the Chinese government from attending the ceremony.  It was the first time since 1935 — when the prize went to a winner imprisoned in one of Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps — that the Peace Prize winner or his representative did not appear personally to accept the award.* Liu’s absence was symbolized by an empty chair on stage.

So on this notable occasion, the White House released a statement from President Obama on the awarding of the prize to Liu in absentia. And this is how Obama’s statement began:

“One year ago, I was humbled to receive the Nobel Peace Prize — an award that speaks to our highest aspirations, and that has been claimed by giants of history and courageous advocates who have sacrificed for freedom and justice.”

-Thud-

Pick me up off the floor.

Yes, you read that right, it’s all about him. Our Dear Leader has placed himself among the “giants of history” as well as those “courageous advocates who have sacrificed for freedom and justice.”

I seriously need to have a little of what he’s on … what has he been a courageous advocate of ??? He “won” the prize after he spent 2 years being an advocate for… HIMSELF… Is HOPING for CHANGE courageous? Then where is my Nobel Peace Prize? Hand them out to everyone reading this blog, “who sacrificed for freedom and justice.”

PLEEZZZE…what has he sacrificed ???? Let alone for freedom and justice???

This is mind blowing to me– let’s keep this in context Obama is giving a speech to honor Liu Xiaobo… and somehow Obama, a man living in the WHITE HOUSE, manages to equate himself to a man imprisoned in China.

Well then on the other hand Obama has also equated himself with Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa you know those other “giants of history and courageous advocates who have sacrificed for freedom and justice.”

I need to go back to bed.

  1. You know I needed a laugh and this was it.
He ended his “honor speech” with a trip down Obama memory lane..Geez “it’s to bad Liu Xiaobo couldn’t fly to Oslo to claim his prize”
like he and Michelle did flying on Airforce One..Yeah, I wore my AFO jacket, brought a hundred of our closes friends to Oslo, some fine dining way too many parties…Geez this guy missed out.

  2. I am beside my srlf.
Just when I swear I am going to stop analyzing this character, that I am going to lay off the presidential politics, that I am going to stick to … well anyway this guy goes and does something as embarrassing as this and I have to wonder what the world is thinking and saying about this?

I am told this guy is brilliant- – could he possibly be? I mean he obviously has not a lick of common sense!

Who could do this when honoring a man stuck in prison while he and Ms shelly are flying around the world free as birds?
I am stunned and embarrassed by this POTUS– our last one was dumb and we all knew it but this one is not only dumb – they are trying to pass him off as brilliant and want to put him on the dollar bill yet?

Please somebody pinch me – this is the longest nightmare I have never awaken from!

By the way – all of this Obama stuff is scripted– Bushisms rolled off his lips and was plain funny – this stuff is sad!

  3. Liu Xiaobo responce to Obama
Thank you for your glowing tribute to…Yourself

  4. You think Mr Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama
May have politely asked China in the name of “freedom and justice” for the release of Liu Xiaobo?

  5. “Yoouu’rre sooo vaaiiin,
You probably think this award is about you!”

You can replace the word “award” with a million other things i.e. country, peace summit, climate change conference, Olympic bid, treaty, etc…

Actually I thought he’d win another Nobel Peace Prize this year. Maybe he’ll win again in the next 2 yrs. If & when he does then he can name the related chapter in his 3rd autobiography (of his tril0gy) “The Second Time Around” or “The Second Coming.”
