I scour the internet looking for news about violence and injustice to women and children. Mostly I find horror stories but sometimes I find something with a happier ending.

  1. Thanks Louise
while i am happy to hear that a marriage to a child under age 16 is being addressed it stops short of addressing what is also stated in the article…this girl was to marry her 35 year old first cousin..so what the “law’ says is she must wait till she is 16..in 9 years this 16 year old can be forced to marry her 44 year old first cousin.
Yes its a step in the right direction but when will they also acknowledge that a 16 year old girl who is forced to marry a 44 year old man is still being abused.

  2. The 1929 Law was probably passed by the British. The Brits ruled undivided India for 200 years. Their rule was over in 1947. So we can thank them for this law.
