On the Subject of Disclose – your thoughts?

By: Adrianne Knobloch

As with so many issues and outrages perpetrated by Congress, the media, left and right help them frame the debate, all headed up under left and right, blue hat American vs. red hat American, the focus on the awfulness of the other side, but the actual meat, the reality, so effectively sidelined that we never even get into the TRUE battle.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon against Disclose for reasons stated by the so called right, see note below from Heritage Foundation, but really, the global governance RINO right, we should be looking at the entire issue and asking the cogent question:

WHO should be allowed to contribute to campaigns, should companies be allowed to at all?

Indeed, since companies/corps/special interests and now, because of globalism and foreign nations owning a piece of these companies, are contributing, our “representatives” getting rich, getting to congress as paupers, becoming overnight millionaires,

I ask, should corporations, special interests, and thereby foreign nations have a voice in what is MEANT to be a process for and by the American citizen who are out spent and out bid, therefore, relegated OUT of the political process entirely?

The results of the existing status quo is evidenced all around, China’s money bought influence we as people and nation could not compete to buy and a good deal of our industry, manufacturing and jobs, along with it?

And so I ask, WHY do we rise WITH the RINOs and NOT RISE to put a complete stop to the current system while WHOLLY rejecting the one they seek to replace it with?

Why do we continue to allow the two globalists competitors for their place in NWO frame the argument, fight the power play for their own ends when NEITHER END is ours?

I don’t get it.  Can one of you PLEASE explain it to me?

FYI: From the viewpoint of The Heritage Foundation

DISCLOSE, is written to ensure freedom groups cannot rally their members by forcing them to disclose their membership rosters and donor lists. These mandates apply to individuals and groups which make independent donations or promote their favored candidate outside the realm of the official campaigns, namely Grassroots activism.

DISCLOSE Amends the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 Title I, Section 103 of the bill defines “contributions” as: ;
– any payments by any person (except a candidate, a candidate’s authorized committee, or a political committee of a political party) for “coordinated communications”

What are “coordinated communications”? Section 103 clarifies:
– a publicly distributed or disseminated communication referring to a clearly identified candidate for federal office which is made during a specified election period in cooperation, consultation, or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate, a candidate’s authorized committee, or a political committee of a political party; – any communication that republishes, disseminates, or distributes, in whole or in part, any broadcast or any written, graphic, or other form of campaign material prepared by a candidate, a candidate’s authorized committee, or their agents.

Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has filed for cloture on the DISCLOSE Act, S. 3628, which is intended to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United and impose burdensome new disclosure requirements. The cloture vote will probably occur next Tuesday in a move that avoids committee hearings. If Reid can get 60 votes, then the Schumer/Van Hollen Sedition Act of 2010 will proceed to a vote. At that point, he will only need 51 senators who believe Congress has the ability to circumvent and restrict the First Amendment.

*Note from Blog Owner-

If the Democrats are suggesting this – you can bet it will be to their advantage this November-and it should not be trusted. Campaign finance reform should nothing more than taking ALL the money out of politics and putting it right back into the people’s hands. Public airwaves should belong to the people and should be given to the politicians in fair amounts and equal time to appeal to the people and level the playing field for every candidate- once and for all! Take the damned money out of politics!
