Obama Snubs Nation’s Heroes, Becomes the First President to Skip Ball Honoring Medal of Honor  Recipients in Over 50 Years http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/8627

Barack Obama may have stumbled over his words briefly during his inauguration, but he made an even bigger blunder later Tuesday evening. The newly sworn-in President opted not to appear at what should have been one of the most important Balls on his agenda that evening – The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball. The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball was begun in 1953 for President Dwight Eisenhower’s inauguration. The event recognized recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award. There were 48 Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, who were undoubtedly disappointed by the Commander-in-Chief’s failure to show. Over the past 56 years and 14 inaugurations, no President has skipped this event – until now.
The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball is sponsored by the American Legion, and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran’s service organizations, including those such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Instead of attending this ball honoring our nation’s heroes, Obama was busy making stops at 10 other official balls. Obama and his wife’s first stop was at the Neighborhood Ball. From there they went to the Home State Ball for Illinois and Hawaii, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Youth Inaugural Ball, and the Home State Ball for Delaware and Pennsylvania. They finished off the night with brief appearances at the Mid-Atlantic, Western, Midwest, Eastern, and Southern regional Balls.

Celebrities were a plenty at the balls, with Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Mary. J. Blige, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, will.i.am, Sting, Mariah Carey, and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance at the Neighborhood Ball. In addition, the other nine balls also featured a star-studded lineup including Kanye West and Kid Rock at the Youth Ball, Marc Anthony at the Western Ball, and Cheryl Crow at the Western Ball.

It was the party without all of the celebrities that Obama skipped. The very people who he sought to have support him during his candidacy and campaign, who have fought to protect this country, were snubbed in favor of publicity and the opportunity to rub shoulders – yet again – with the out-of-touch Hollywood elite.

  1. Can you believe that crap? I heard somewhere that he has earned the respect of the military because he learned to give a good, “crisp” salute. WTF?

    Thinking of you often.

  2. He is a jack-ass. But, what can you expect from someone who has thumbed his nose at pretty much all of America’s traditions as well as Presidential traditions.

He showed no respect for the Presidential Seal, created an office that never existed before -the office of the President Select-threw a $200 mill inauguration, screwed up his oathe of office and did it again later -without a bible- all this from a constitutional attorney!

Jackass-in-Chief fits him to a tee!

  3. That’s a beautiful picture of our new President and First Lady! Thank you Freemenow!

  4. Apparently our national degeneracy has reached the point where a president, with minimal outrage, can hang out with rapper thugs who make fortunes calling women the b word.

Much tragedy could have been avoided if this country had recognized three kinds of people as having been made in God’s image: women, African Americans, and children still in the womb.

  5. I hate to say I’m not surprised. Of course the adoring media is “overlooking this”. What ball did the respectful Jay-Z attend?

  6. BJ,
I’ve never commented here, but I check in on you and your daughters constantly. You’re always in my thoughts.

Reading your last few posts, it disgusts me that the James and johninca-s of the world have chosen your blog to continue their ‘someone’s had it worse than you’ or ‘save the babies, but to hell with their mothers’ sh!t. And that’s what it is. sh!t.

The real question is what have they done? What has James DONE other than argue with you? What has johnica DONE other than pray for the babies? Blocking the entrances of women’s health clinics doesn’t count.

I just want you to know there are a lot more of us engaged in Louisa’s Law than you know. We are here. We are with you. We’ll get it DONE.

  7. Roses, what makes you think that I (or johninca) want to focus on any group ahead of women? I find that highly insulting, given that it’s not at all true (at least in my case).

You ask, rhetorically, what I’ve done for women’s rights? I’ve done plenty. Is it more, or less, than you? I don’t know, and neither do you.

I think it’s dangerous to dismiss legitimate calls for justice on the grounds that another group also deserves justice. Only when there is direct competition for resources should we ever try to judge whose needs are greater or ought to come first.

  8. In defense of James, let me just say that he cannot possibly have done anything heinous enough to cause him to be equated with “the johninca-s of the world.” I’ll bear the stigma alone. Most people here probably do not agree with my position about human life, but it used to be perfectly acceptable even among Democrats.

Meanwhile, a woman’s life hangs in the balance. I just got back from my church where I was praying for her. I believe that is what Betty Jean asked us to do.

  9. It’s BJ here- please stop this man v women bickering – it is killing me!

I am going through hell here – my son and son-in-law are off the charts and you can’t even imagine what they are up to now. One thing is for sure – they hate women. It would be so easy for me to hate them back but instead I just love my daughter.

It appears that if I fight to get in to see her – I might cause my daughter to be sent away from Kessler- well like the real mother in the bible stories – I can not cut the baby in half so I will stay home and be with the one that needs me most. Denise needs me now and Kessler is taking care of Louisa.

If Tommy and Frank were really looking out for Lou – they would be doing what was best for her instead of trying to spite me- so in the end – then are using Lou to hurt me- how sad- I’ll not have any part of it.

So why are we still fighting men vs women? Louisa is fighting for her life and she is doing it without her mother by her side all because of this hate between the sexes. how sad and all the while the two men doing it are saying they love her!

  10. Hello, I can’t understand how to add your blog ( freemenow.wordpress.com ) in my rss reader
