I have a tendency to like politicians who buck their party, and there is no greater example of that right now than Joe Lieberman. Democrats are furious with Senator Lieberman for not supporting the current version of health care reform. They’ve already told him they don’t want him in their party, but expect him to follow their lead anyway. Karma is coming back to bite them, and I love it.

Good for Senator Lieberman for standing up for what he believes in, and for making solid points about the cost of going forward with this health care bill. He’s shown repeatedly that he sticks to his guns regardless of the scorn he faces, and even with the fact that these decisions are likely to hurt his future in politics. There is so little of this type of personal conviction in today’s politics, and even if I’m the only member, he yet again has won me over to be a member of the ‘Joe Lieberman Fan Club.’

Give me one good reason for these ads? Sex sells? If so what is sexy about women being captured enslaved or bruised? Tell me who is buying these products- they are very expensive products and these are very expensive ads- – these is what we are force feeding our citizens – our children are getting bombarded with these images. Haven’t you seen them? They are in magazines in Dr. offices- in the newspapers, on bus and subway walls. Your kids have seen them – they know all these makers – every one!

What are they selling and why are they selling it this way and why are they spending this much to do it? And why are our females spending so much to buy it? Why?

Because they are used to it – they have been raised on it – they know no other way. We have failed them – both the girls and the boys. Just as women under Sharia law allow themselves to be covered from head to toes and to be beaten and treated as animals – and just as their husbands beat them and treat them like dogs our women expect to be treated like this and our men expect to react like this. It is our fault- we have raised our children to accept this as normal!

Look at these ads – is this normal to you? When did we stop having any respect for ourselves in this country? When did we lower our standards this low?

So what pray tell are they selling here that warrents this scene?

The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indred Wichman . Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student’s Association.  The e-mail was in response to the students’ protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.  The group had complained the cartoons were ‘hate speech.’

As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn’t like this too well.  They’re demanding that Wichman be reprimanded, the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty, and mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen.  Now the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray.  CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn’t believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.

An excellent debate to watch. At moment 7:04 an exchange that explains why health care reform has been so confusing. No one knows what is in the compromise bill. Senator Durbin, “I’m in the dark almost as much as he [Senator McCain] is.”

Also at 15:56 Senator McCain addresses the sticking point of many people who would like to see a health reform bill, simply “The Math doesn’t work.”

Just as our American President repeatedly mentions his African roots and that black father who implanted then abandoned him, the same otherwise already married man he never knew but only met for an hour in an airport at about age 12. He writes lovingly about Frank, a black communist drunk, who taught him to hate whites and mistrust women. Notice, his motus operandi always includes a black male figure and only mentions females when absolutely necessary. His Kenyan grandmother who has just made a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia as guest of the King but she has not been guest to the White House courtesy of her Grandson. There isn’t even any talk of it. I wonder why? And he only mentions his white women folk when it conveniently suits his story. Like his mother worrying about medical bills from her deathbed which he did not bother to visit, or his typical white grandmother being a racist. True to form he traveled to Europe to pick up his unearned Nobel Peace prize and having enough sense to know he did not deserve it- he pinned his Nobel Prize on accomplishments he had the nerve to compare with Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King (not in his or his father’s dreams if you ask me).

So let me get this straight – pardon the pun- we must be very very careful not to use the word gay and to be extremely careful not to hurt the feelings of gays and lesbians or blacks or Latinos but its fine to play music that calls females bitches, cunts and ho’s (just not nappy headed ho’s) and to show pictures and ads that depict females as sex objects or punching bags? Have I got this right so far? I am a teacher by profession, when I see a headline that says safe schools for EVERYONE and the opening lines read “verbally bullied and harassed to the breaking point” followed by “he decided he had to do something to make school a safer place for everyone. That’s when he founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).” I have to scratch my head and then prevent myself from screaming are you out of your friggen minds?

Just how many kids are gay compared to 52% of the kids who are girls who are being verbally bullied and harassed to the breaking point, who are being send insidious messages to be sexually promiscuous, to have eating disorders, and to be punching bags, not to mention to allow themselves to be mistreated and called names and even wear these names across their asses and chests proudly?

Do gays pants that say SODOMY across their asses – do blacks wear NIGGER across their chests  but Women wear BITCH as a badge of honor and utter Bro’s before Ho’s they are so used to the terms they dance to lyrics depicting bitches good for nothing but oral sex. I am all for Safe Schools for Everyone – but let’s include EVERYONE. I am far beyond sick and tired of everyone not including the majority of our citizens! FEMALES! The only time females are included is if they happen to fall into a sub category then they will be covered by that sub category – if not they simply do not count! Safe Schools for Everyone: An interview with Kevin Jennings, founder of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)

When Kevin Jennings taught history in Rhode Island 10 years ago, he saw students verbally bullied and harassed to the breaking point. It reminded him of the torment of the endless name-calling he suffered when he was in school. But when the bullying among his students began to turn physical, he decided he had to do something to make school a safer place for everyone. That’s when he founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
GLSEN is a national education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for all students. Established nationally in 1995, GLSEN works with educators, students, and the community to help children learn to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.

According to the organization’s 2005 National School Climate Survey, the only national survey to document the experiences of students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) in America’s schools, more than a third (37.8%) of students experienced physical harassment at school on the basis of sexual orientation and more than a quarter (26.1%) on the basis of their gender expression. Nearly one-fifth (17.6%) of students had been physically assaulted because of their sexual orientation and over one-tenth (11.8%) because of their gender expression.

“If school isn’t a safe place for all students, and some are harassed and bullied for being different, academic achievement suffers tremendously,” Jennings says. “It’s not about how you feel about gay people, it’s about making sure all of our students achieve.”

According to the School Climate Survey, gay and lesbian students were five times more likely to report having skipped school in the last month because of safety concerns than the general population of students; were twice as likely as the general population of students to report they were not planning to pursue any post-secondary education; and had an average GPA a half point lower than gay and lesbian students who weren’t harassed.

To help combat the problem, teachers need to create a classroom culture of respect and acceptance from day one, Jennings says. With the start of school only days away, now is the time to begin planning.

“As part of their introductions to the students on the first day of school, teachers should lay out exactly what their expectations are for the classroom,” Jennings says. “They should say to students, ‘Our focus is on learning, and I won’t tolerate language and behavior that distract from that focus.’”

Jennings recommends telling students exactly what kinds of language and behavior won’t be tolerated and to be specific about words and gestures. “As a former teacher, I know the more specific we are with kids, the better they do,” he says. “There’s a perception that it’s OK to bully certain people, so teachers need to be clear by saying, ‘there’s no bullying in my classroom, and that includes teasing people about race, appearance, sexual orientation, gender expression’ – anything that kids will focus on.”

According to another GSLEN survey, “From Teasing to Torment: School Climate in America, A Survey of Students and Teachers” — a national survey of more than 3,400 students ages 13-18 and more than 1,000 secondary school teachers — the reason most commonly cited for being harassed is a student’s appearance and body size (39%). The second most common reason is sexual orientation. Of those surveyed, 33% of teens reported that students are frequently harassed because they are or are perceived to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual.

Beyond explaining what will and will not be tolerated, teachers must be prepared to intervene when students break the rules – because they will, according to Jennings. “Intervene the very first time you see someone get out of line, because students are going to test the limits,” he says. “If you hear a student say something like, ‘that’s so gay,’ you can’t just ignore it – you need to intervene and ask, ‘what do you mean by that?’ Otherwise, you’re teaching the students that it’s OK to talk that way.”

You did hear Michelle Obama was the “Most Fascinating Person of the Year”? Yep 2009 most fascinating person. Her husband was most fascinating in 2008. But 2009 belongs to Michelle. IMHO the only thing fascinating about Michelle is that Barbara Walters finds her fascinating.

So Mr. Peace prize winner and Mrs. fascinating claimed their awards on the same day Hillary Clinton claimed hers and I guess between all the talk about how much Barack has done to earn the award in the future and how fascinating Michele was this past year, and of course Tiger Woods, Hillary got lost in the shuffle, besides it was A Women’s Award and that is soooooo boring and who gives a crap about actual accomplishments when we have Barack and Michelle and Tiger.

So Hillary received an award for actually accomplishing something. Boring when you can concentrate on what someone might accomplish and of course a woman who was the First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the America, US Senator, Presidential Candidate, Secretary of State, Children rights advocate, Human rights advocate, FEMINIST, and of course devoted daughter, wife and mother is not at all “fascinating” when up against the fascinating accomplishments of Michelle Obama.

The Iraqi Government announced today that it intends to forcibly move the 3,400 residents of Camp Ashraf to a location in Baghdad on Tuesday 15 December, where they have a notorious prison. Another carnage is clearly looming.

Earlier, the Iranian regime Ambassador to Iraq, Qods Force commander, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, conceded that Tehran had pressured Iraq to move the residents to another location in a Shiite dominated area in the south of Iraq. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani had also called for such a criminal action against Ashraf residents.

Assistant Secretary of State, Jeffrey Feltman, told a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Middle East and South Asia hearing on 28 October that “We’re actually more concerned about an Iraqi desire to move Camp Ashraf to someplace else inside Iraq. The expectation is not that they’re going to expel the MEK Camp Ashraf residents, but that they would try to move them — forcibly move them to a different location in Iraq, and that, too, could lead to bloodshed.

Reuters reported on 8 December that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, concerning “Transfer of Camp Ashraf residents to Nuqrat al-Salman” which was described by him as a “step towards expelling them (from Iraq).” He was referring to a remote area that is home to a well-known prison.

Earlier the top United Nations envoy to Iraq had expressed his concerns over the humanitarian situation in Camp Ashraf.

There is a resolution on the House that is related to this issue, H. Res. 704 which is bipartisan and has gained over 100 co-sponsors. The resolution is co-sponsored by representatives Bob Filner (D-CA), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), and Ted Poe (R-TX) among others.

This looming humanitarian catastrophe demanded by an increasingly vulnerable regime in Tehran and carried out by the Iraqi Government must be stopped at all costs.

Seems to me most of the sex selling is selling women and girls short. Think I am exagerating- give it time my friends, I am going to bring you the proof! For two years I have harped now I am going to bring you the actual physical proof! seeing is believing! This is what we are force feeding our kids!

This has been foisted on us slowly each year getting worse and worse – and auspices of free speech we have now come to this. The United States Capitol was originally completed in 1811, but a burgeoning nation quickly outgrew the original building which was dramatically expanded during the 1850’s.  A new House Chamber was created and when the House of Representatives moved to its current location, the old House Chamber and the meeting place of the House of Representatives for nearly 50 years became a passageway from the Rotunda to the new House Wing.  Lawmakers debated what to do with the Old House Chamber and in 1864, Representative Justin S. Morrill’s proposal to create a National Statuary Hall out of the Old House Chamber became law.  It invited that “each and all the States to provide and furnish statues, in marble or bronze, not exceeding two in number for each State, of deceased persons who have been citizens thereof, and illustrious for their historic renown or for distinguished civic or military services such as each State may deem to be worthy of this national commemoration.”  By 1933, Statuary Hall had become so crowded and the weight of the statues so heavy, that Congress passed a bill allowing the statues to be distributed around The Capitol. The statues in Statuary Hall were considered part of a permanent collection until 2000 when legislation was enacted that allows states to change out the statues.

The statues in Statuary Hall are an inaccurate reflection of our nation’s history. Currently only 9  of the 100 statues in Statuary Hall are women.  With your help, we can make this number ten, since Ohio is about to replace one of it’s statues in statuary hall. Currently, Ohio’s two statues are President James Garfield and Governor William Allen, but the state has decided to replace pro-slavery Governor Allen.  The Ohio Legislature has established a committee headed by Senator Mark Wagoner (SD02@senate.state.oh.us, 614-466-8060) and Representative Tom Letson (district64@ohr.state.oh.us, 614-466-5358) which is canvassing the state to find a suitable replacement. You can also call the other committee members, Rep.Richard Adams  district79@ohr.state.oh.us 614-4668114, Rep. The primary contenders for the spot are men, (President William McKinley, President Ulysses S. Grant, President William Howard Taft, Jesse Owens) but there are plenty of excellent women candidates and it is imperative that women urge the committee to select one of these Ohio women to represent the great state of Ohio in Statuary Hall.  The two best female contenders are Annie Oakley and Harriet Beecher Stowe. 

Annie Oakley, the archetypal western woman, was an American sharpshooter who had a starring role in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show and was the first American female superstar.  Named “Little Sure Shot” by Chief Sitting Bull, she played a major role in breaking barriers for women.  Although her shooting career is well-documented, few people know Annie Oakley was a generous philanthropist, donating much of her fortune to orphans, widows and other poor women.

Harriet Beecher Stowe was an American abolitionist and author.  Stowe’s novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin depicted life for African-Americans under slavery, energizing anti-slavery forces in the American North, while provoking widespread anger in the South. Upon meeting Stowe, Abraham Lincoln allegedly remarked, “So you’re the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war!”

It is important that the next generation of women, see a reflection of themselves in our nation’s history.  A fair representation of women in statuary hall will not only honor past female leaders but help create the next generation of female leaders. You can help change history and get another female statue in statuary hall.  Make your voice heard.
