From The Far Left Radicals To The Extreme Far Right

Many of us at The Majority United – RIDS, Republicans, Independents and Democrats belong to the Tea Party groups.

Those of us who belong to the Tea Party know that these are true “grass roots” Americans who love their families and love their country and who believe that our beloved country is heading down the wrong road!

Yes, we hate “taxation without representation”, but we understand that in order to run the government that some taxation is necessary, but what is happening in our country with some of the wrong choices that are being made by this administration and congress is reprehesible and those in Washington D.C. is flat out not listening to the People!

These men and women in congress, who were sent to do the People’s business have committed the inexcusable act of refusing to listen to their very own constituents, who voted for them and placed them into office.

This is a betrayal to the American people!

It is because of these hardworking Americans and their concerted efforts that America exists!

What is happening throughout this country with attacks that are being personally directed at the congress men and women in both parties, Democrats and Republicans was coming from “fringe groups” of the extreme far right, not the Tea Party groups as some of the far left radicals would like you to believe!

“Voter Imposed Term Limits” to rectify the unsatisfactory job of all in congress, regardless of gender or Party affiliation to unseat, remove, bounce or “kick the bums to the curb” in the 2010 Nov. 2  Mid Term election and beyond, until we remove all of the corruption in Washington!

Physical violence against the “ignorant politicians” is not the answer and it only makes things worse and it is contrary to what most law abiding Americans believe!

First, we have the Democrats taking a “swing” at the Republicans by accusing them of instigating the attacks against, Rep Gabrielle Gifford (D-AZ), House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Rep. Tom Perriello’s brother Bo Perriello.

Secondly, we have the far left radicals accusing the Tea Parties of being responsible for these attacks!  FALSE allegations!

Third, you have an attack of Republicans  House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R- VA) and Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) and who can the far left radicals blame now?

Where exactly were the far left radicals when they were burning effigies of Bush and Palin?  Where exactly were the far left radicals when Hillary was being denigrated?

And yes, as you have all guessed, the storyline is that neither Republicans or the Tea Party was responsible for the acts committed against the Democrats!

As for the acts against the Republicans, who knows? It makes one wonder how the Democrats feel about the fingers being pointed their way?

The “fringe group” the extreme far right,  Mike Vanderboegh’s – Militant group accepts responsibility and it all started with an article in his Sipsey Street Irregulars blogspot.

As we have the radical far left, we also have the extreme far right with the majority of law abiding Americans falling in the middle, between these two radical and extreme groups.

ACORN: New And Improved?

How exactly does one work to reconstitute, rebrand, rename,re-invent and market a product brand by the name of ACORN that could have very well been used for the benefit of enhancing the lives of those less fortunate in a positive way?

  • Former Acorn Housing – Affordable Housing Centers of America
  • California Acorn –  Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment
  • New York Acorn – New York communities for Change

Instead, we have learned over a period of time that this organization was being used in nefarious transactions that bordered on criminal activities!

The American people will be forever grateful to the 2 young filmakers Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe, who blew this organization “wide open” and exposed all of the corruption, bribery, thuggery they call ACORN!

The most reprehensible part to this whole disgusting saga is the fact that unbeknownst to most decent, honest, hardworking Americans, we have been indirectly sponsoring this nefarious organization through our tax dollars for years!

One would think that our “illustrious” lawmakers would have given the American people a heads up when it came to the corrupt activities by this organization but instead we get “lip service and rehtoric” about our duties as good Americans to help those less fortunate!

How many Americans across this country is “sick and tired” of  hearing about how we are not doing our fair share?

Americans are the most generous people in the world and yet we are not given our due worth!

After the debaucle of ACORN I suggest that more Americans should start questioning every single organization that is being funded by our tax dollars and make every elected official personally responsible.

These elected officials have promised to protect the interest of the People, it is time to make them accountable.

Unfortunately, lately they have done a “lousy job” and many will lose their seats in the Mid Term elections in Nov. and good riddance!

An article in The Washington Post, dated March 15, 2010  written: by Michael Tarm of the AP

Titled:  “Acorn branches rename, rebrand after video scandle”

CHICAGO— Affiliates of the once mighty liberal activist group ACORN are remaking themselves in a desperate bid to ditch the tarnished name of their parent organization and restore federal grants and other revenue streams that ran dry in the wake of a video scandal.

The letters A, C, O, R and N are coming off office doors from New York to California. Business cards are being reprinted. New signs with new names are popping up in front of offices.

The breakaways are trying to shed the scandal that emerged six months ago when videos showed some ACORN workers giving tax tips to conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute. But while their names are different, most groups have kept the same offices and staff.

That, critics say, means the groups really haven’t started anew and severed all ties to ACORN, which faced accusations of mismanagement and rampant voter registration fraud well before the video brouhaha sent even longtime Democratic backers scattering.

Even the national office of ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, doesn’t blame affiliates for bolting from under its umbrella — conceding its entire 40-state network has been devastated by what backers characterize as right-wing attacks.

“It is true that these range of attacks do damage to your brand and your good name,” said Kevin Whelan, ACORN’s communication’s director. “The other reality is that we are starting to win some vindication on the facts. But vindication doesn’t necessarily pay the rent.”

ACORN’s financial situation and reputation went into free fall within days of the videos’ release in September. Congress reacted by yanking ACORN’s federal funding, private donors held back cash and scores of ACORN offices closed.

On Wednesday, a U.S. judge reiterated an earlier ruling that the federal law blacklisting ACORN and groups allied with it was unconstitutional because it singled them out. That doesn’t mean any money will automatically be restored, however.

For years, ACORN could draw on 400,000 members to lobby for liberal causes, such as raising the minimum wage or adopting universal health care. Locally, its activists pushed city officials to fix broken street lights and it pressured banks to offer more favorable loans to low-income Americans. ACORN was arguably most successful at registering hundreds of thousands of low-income voters, though that mission was dogged by fraud allegations, including that some workers submitted forms signed by ‘Mickey Mouse’ or other cartoon characters.

There’s a chance the national group could disband, and it, too, may consider changing its name.

“The sorts of attacks ACORN has faced as an organization are unprecedented since the McCarthyism in the ’50s, and it remains an open question whether an organization can survive that,” Whelan said. “Time will tell.”

One of the latest groups to adopt a new name is ACORN Housing, long one of the best-funded affiliates. Now, the group is calling itself the Affordable Housing Centers of America.

Others changing their names include what were among the largest affiliates: California ACORN is now Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, and New York ACORN has become New York Communities for Change. More are expected to follow suit.

The housing affiliate has lost more than most. The federal cutoff slashed its budget 75 percent, from $24 million in 2009 to $6 million in 2010. It’s closed half of its 33 offices, cut half its 250 staff and reduced numbers of low-income families it gives financial advice to from 20,000 to 10,000.

An unadorned paper sign with the new name was taped at the entrance of the group’s Chicago headquarters on a recent afternoon. But much else is unchanged: The new group is in the same offices; and the head of the old group, Mike Shea, is the head of the new one.

Still, insisted Shea, “We really have no relationship with ACORN whatsoever.”

Many opponents don’t buy it. A distinguishing feature of ACORN for years has been its complex web of affiliates, some of which shared money and manpower without ever assuming ACORN’s name, said Frederick Hill, spokesman for Republicans on the U.S. House oversight and government reform committee.

“The idea that some ACORN organizations are trying to obscure who they really are should be troubling to Americans,” he said.

A recent report on ACORN compiled by the House Republicans whom Hill represents describes ACORN as a “shell game” with a structure “designed to conceal illegal activities, to use taxpayer and tax-exempt dollars for partisan political purposes, and to distract investigators.”

To credibly claim a clean break, argued Hill, the new groups should at least have hired directors from outside ACORN.

“But I can’t tell you of a single example our committee has seen where we say, ‘Geez, it really looks like they’re purging all the individuals who are with national ACORN,'” he said.

The breakaways insist they have changed in more than just name, pointing to tougher ethics rules and better management. Shea said his Chicago-based housing group brought in independent auditors to pour through its books; all, he says, gave them high marks.

“We can prove to our stakeholders that we’ve put reforms in place and what you saw on the video can never happen again,” he said.

In the end, all the confidence-building measures may do little good when it comes to divisive, politically active groups like ACORN. Foes like Hill and a vast range of longtime detractors are sure to harken back to the old ACORN names at every opportunity.

“If a company changes its name, the hubbub eventually dies down,” said Bill Lozito, head of Minneapolis-based branding firm, Strategic Name Development. “Changing a name associated with politics is a lot tougher. People won’t let go of the original name and won’t forget.”

Stupak: “Dog And Pony Show”

Bart Stupak and his so-called pro life stand was a big fat LIE and a SHAM!

(He was already practicing his venue of a “Dog and Pony show act” 4 months ago!)

He had no intentions of ever denying this adminstration and his corrupt party of this Democratic Monstrosity!

All of them, true to form Hucksters!

Bart Stupak was the head act in this “Dog and Pony show”!

As unbelievable and pathetic as this may sound, We were all had!

Let’s see, what exactly did Stupak get for Deceiving the American people?

Can you imagine, the man had the gall to post this on his .gov website and what a coincidence that this monumental happening took place on March 19, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced three airports in northern Michigan have received grants totaling $726,409 for airport maintenance and improvements. The funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.

“This federal funding will help these airports better provide critical services to communities in northern Michigan,” Stupak said. “I am pleased the FAA has made this investment in our local airports and the individuals and businesses they serve.”

Alpena County Regional Airport received a grant of $85,500 to acquire friction measuring equipment, specifically a decelermeter and tow vehicle, to replace equipment that has worn out.

Delta County Airport in Escanaba received a grant of $179,209 to install a 10 foot perimeter fence to enhance security and prevent wildlife from entering the airport.

The Chippewa County International Airport near Sault Ste. Marie received a grant of $461,700 to install lighted signs on Runway 16/34 and make repairs to the pavement to meet marking requirements and maintain structural integrity.

This funding is provided to the FAA through the regular federal appropriations process and is awarded through competitive grants.

Note for Bart Stupak:  You can run and hide Bart, but the American people, especially your constituents have a very long memory and they all know you for the political degenerate that you are!  And something tells us that they will fight to have you removed from We the People’s Seat!

The Fight For Freedom Continues……

As the battle rages on in congress “A Day in Infamy” We the People  of The Majority United – RIDS Republicans, Independents and Democrats forge ahead to take back our beloved country out of the hands of the political reprobates!

We know that the ramifications of this Democratic monstrosity, referred to as Obama Care is the beginning of the end of a great nation, we call America “home of the brave and land of the free”!

Our great nation is steeped in a rich history that dates back to the times of the early colonial patriots, who believed that this great nation was worth fighting for!

These great Americans gave us the tools in which to govern and guide our beloved country by.

The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights are being challenged and have been challenged  for decades by politicians in congress and by each administration, who are “hell bent” on destroying their very existence and everything that they stand for!

Through all of these “trials and tribulations” that our country now faces,  are we going to forsake her?

Our history of America and it’s early beginnings have been taken for granted and now, we are on the verge of losing everything that we have been given and what of the sacrifice of those who risked life and limb to protect and preserve our freedoms?

It will take every American woman, man and child to fight for the right to preserve our most precious freedoms from Tyranny at the hands of the true obstructionist, those who reside in the Whitehouse and the men and women in congress who will most definitely, be voted right out of office starting in the Mid Term elections this November!

So The Fight For Freedom Continues…………………..

Another perceptive and incisive article  by J.D. Longstreet  who writes for “Western Front America” titled:  “Today Everything Changes in America”

By J.D. Longstreet on March 21st, 2010

Today Everything Changes in America

obama-care11 America, as we knew it, ceases to exist today (Sunday, March 21st, 2010). You may think that is an overly broad statement, a statement that just isn’t so. But, I would assure you it is, if anything, an understatement!

Today the socialists in the US House of Representatives will pass (or by the time you read this tome will have passed) National Healthcare Reform – that which we have chosen to refer to as ObamaCare.  It will forever have HIS name on it as well it should, because it was his campaign to “fundamentally change America” and his use of the ignorance of most publicly educated Americans that brought us to this reintroduction of slavery in America.  Yes, ObamaCare, by any other name, would still be slavery.  Why?  Because it is pure, flat-out, socialism, and socialism is the enslavement of a people until communism takes over a nation’s government.

I may have lost one of the best friends I have ever had in my entire life as a result of our own debate over ObamaCare and socialism in America today. His belief in a strong central government and my belief that a strong central government is pure evil, and my persistent belief in “state’s rights” as granted by the US constitution, drove us to a heated debate. Later, I reminded myself that for the socialists in our government today they NEED Americans at each other’s throats.

You know, ObamaCare is scary enough all by itself. But when one understands that it is only the BEGINNING, only the very first step in total control of the lives of Americans, in is not only frightening, it is terrifying. Freedom loving Americans must, somehow, stop this socialism.

Freedom loving Americans must begin the campaign to repeal ObamaCare right now, today. Actually, I have already begun my personal campaign to have the “law from hell” repealed. I urge you to do the same.

I was thrilled to see the crowds of Americans in Washington yesterday demonstrating against socialized medicine. It was a great event for the Tea Party. I thought as I watched on TV that we have to bring this same level of energy toward defeating as many of the socialist and RINO’s in Congress as we possibly can this coming November in the Mid-Term Election. America will need a fresh start and she cannot get it if the incumbents remain in power in our national legislature. What is even more important — we won’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of repealing ObamaCare if we do not remove the incumbents and replace them with representatives and senators sworn to support repeal of ObamaCare.

Repealing ObamaCare will certainly not be easy. Some fellow commentators are questioning the fortitude of the GOP members of Congress when the chips are down and the battle rages for repeal. I must tell you, I have the same concerns. Remember, even if we manage to gain control of both houses of the Congress this November, Obama will STILL be in the White House and he will most certainly VETO any bill that repeals ObamaCare should it ever reach his desk. Yes, repeal will be an uphill battle – all the way.

Repeal of ObamaCare will be one of the most difficult tasks ever undertaken by the American people. For once a government program wraps its tentacles around the freedoms and, yes the wallets, of the American people it is near impossible to loosen them enough to forcibly extract them and return America to its free state.

We have a most difficult job ahead of us. It begins now, today. We absolutely must see that the democrats are defeated at the polls in the Mid Tern Election this coming November. Between now and then we have to locate and encourage candidates who believe in freedom for Americans and candidates who hate socialism to run for the offices up for election. And, somehow, we must only elect that candidate who will not fold when the going gets rough in Congress.

Bipartisanship be damned. It was bipartisanship that got us to this point in American history where the country has adopted socialism. In order to repeal ObamaCare and return America to its “constitutional republic” form of government, we cannot afford to elect a single limp-wristed, weak-spined, candidate. We will be engaging in a war in our national legislative body and we will need WARRIORS!

I urge you to begin your personal efforts today to Repeal ObamaCare.

“Thirty Pieces Of Silver” A Betrayal Of Trust

In the final hours leading up to the vote for Obamacare, many Americans across this great nation will ponder the fate of our beloved country and it’s people.

We have been betrayed by those in congress!

The democratic party and this administration shares equally in the corruption, bribery and for the total disrespect to their constituents!

The American voter can no longer stand idly by and allow these “political reprobates”  to continue to do the “People’s Business”!

They have all had the gall to stand before the American voters and lie every step of the way for all purpose and intent to promote the Obamacare agenda.

Even knowing full well that majority of Americans in this country have refused to accept this democratic monstrosity!

We the People, have a very long memory!

We make this solemn promise to each and every democrat, along with those who have been responsible for “playing politics” at the expense of their constituents, that the battle in the midterm elections to unseat every politician in congress will be the American people’s goal,  for the next 8 months!

I implore my fellow Americans to vote them all out of office for the good of the country!

J.D. Longstreet who writes for “Western Front America” wrote a piece titled:  “THE LONGEST SUICIDE NOTE IN HISTORY!”

This is a well written piece that expresses the very thoughts of many Americans across this great country!

By J.D. Longstreet on March 17th, 2010

The Longest Suicide Note In History!

obama-kamikaze “The longest suicide note in history” is not a phrase I came up with. I stole it from some talking head on TV. For the life of me, I cannot remember his name. But, whoever said it was “spot on!”

This week the Democratic Party is scheduled to commit suicide. Their intention to ram ObamaCare, a socialized medicine bill, down the collective throats of a highly P.O.ed America will finish them off for the remainder of 2010 and most likely return them to the wilderness whence they came. For the record, we’d like to say: “Good Riddance!”

Susan Ferrechio, of the Washington Examiner, in an article entitled: “Democrats lack health care votes, but not bravado,” says the following: “Even though Democrats control 253 votes in the House, more than 40 in their party are refusing to vote for the bill because they don’t like its tax on expensive insurance policies, subsidies for insurance policies that cover elective abortions, lack of cost containment and sweetheart deals for some senators.” Ms Ferrechio also says: “Congress intends to take up a second bill that corrects some of the provisions in the Senate bill that House members don’t like, but that bill would have to be passed using a politically divisive parliamentary maneuver called budget reconciliation, which would require just 51 votes in the Senate.” You may read the entire article HERE.

Can you say “gridlock?” Why is the term gridlock important? Well, after ObamaCare is passed or killed, there will be an onset of gridlock on both sides of Capital Hill. There will be a dash for the goal line, at the Mid Term Election, this coming November. The Republicans will be charged by their constituents with blocking any moves by the Democrats, boxing them in, hemming them in, and generally neutralizing them until the nation can vote them out of office in November. THAT will be the primary job of the GOP now until November.

The Democrats, on the other hand, will be extremely busy “backing and filling” in a vain attempt to repair all the damage they will have done to their party. Plus, they will be trying, as best they can, to distance themselves from the their president, who, as it turns out, is the worst president in the history of the republic.

Out here in the hinterlands, the explosive conservative movement known as the Tea Party will be growing exponentially, and devising new ways to unseat unresponsive congresspersons and senators in the Mid Terem Election. (By the way the word “TEA,” as in TEA PARTY, is an acronym. It stands for TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!) But most of you knew that, already.

If the Kamikaze Congress does, indeed, pass ObamaCare into law, the battle cry from the voters of America will immediately become “REPEAL OBAMACARE.” Public relations campaigns are already being planned around the concept. Candidates who subscribe to a repeal of ObamaCare, and promise to work towards such a goal, will be virtual “shoo-ins” at the polls in November.

The democrats are deviously plotting a way, some way, ANY way to sneak ObamaCare through the US House without Democrats actually having to vote for it! They are scared “witless” of what they know is coming – a purge of the Congress.

They can possibly pass the bill by using the process of “self-executing” which entails attaching ObamaCare to another bill so that recorded votes will only show the democrats voted for the bill to which ObamaCare is attached, although ObamaCare would be passed at the same time as the bill to which it is attached. Not only is the concept confusing and devious, it is most likely unconstitutional.

As usual, the democrats think the American people are stupid. They REALLY think we will not discover who voted for ObamaCare. Of COURSE, we WILL — and we will publish those finding for the world to see.
As we watch a vast number of political careers in Washington, DC come to an end this week, remember, we are watching history unfold right before our eyes.

In the months ahead more history will unfold as a citizen’s movement, of the conservative persuasion, reshapes the political landscape of America. When the dust settles, finally, after the election in 2012, the New America will resemble the Old America — the Old America, which was more aligned with the US Constitution (as The Founders of this nation intended) and NOT as a socialist nation more akin to the socialist states of Europe.

ObamaCare MUST be defeated and the Congress and White House must be purged of the Socialists, Marxists, Progressives, and Communists if the union is to be preserved. That is the bottom line NOBODY wants to speak publicly about. The uncomfortable fact is, this nation cannot continue as 50 “united” states if she continues on the path our current crop of leaders have chosen for us. The differences are far too deep and the chasm is far to wide to ever be filled or bridged. A house divided cannot stand.

America must be rescued at the polls this coming November. May God, in his infinite wisdom, lend his assistance to the effort to preserve this noble experiment we call America.

When Does The Violence Against Women Stop?

When does the violence committed against women stop?

There are so many incidents that are taking place throughout our country and many of them are happening in our very own backyards!

There are too many to count for our liking and many of these incidents are going into the archive files after they make the news for a day unless it is a high profile case.

It is through the dedication and devotion of  Betty Jean Kling and the members of The Majority United that many of these incidents of violence against women are being reported, acknowleged and dealt with!

We depend upon all of the members of The Majority United, various groups and organizations, such as NYNOW and it’s president Marcia Pappas or what we gather online and in the media to bring many of the issues that involve crimes against victims of abuse to the attention of the members and the public.

The members of The Majority United- RIDS spans the globe and are located throughout the 50 states.

Networking is a very important tool that we all use to “stamp out violence against women” and in may cases we, who belong to The Majority United can attest to the fact that networking really WORKS!

Case and point: March 14, 2010 (just days ago) and posted in the New York Post, By Kathianne Boniello in Norwood, Pa., and Michelle Kaske and Kirsten Fleming in NY

The article was titled:  “BAR-BEAT THUG BLAMES VICTIM”

Unbelievable as this may be, this thug says in his own statement “She started it!”

We applaud his fellow construction workers who turned him in!

Post Note:  Phyllis Chesler is also dealing with Mbarek Lafrem and his violence against women.

Women In Politics – Part 3

We have approximately 8 1/2 more months before Nov.2, 2010 elections.

We all know that when we “kick the bums to the curb”, we have to find their replacements.

And I know that many here at The Majority United – RIDS would like to see more women given the opportunity to run for a variety of political seats.

Rutgers Center for American Women and Politics – Eagleton Institute of Politics has put together a comprehensive list of all the women who are running by states and offices for the 2010 elections.

This is a list of Republicans and Democratic women.

Some states have already chosen their primary candidates like Texas and Illinois.  The rest of the states have yet to hold their elections.

Time is of the essence, as we checkout and eliminate some of these candidates!

A Pioneer And Role Model For All Women

Juanita Goggins is seen in a 1974 file photo in Rock Hill, S.C. Goggins was the first black woman elected to the the South Carolina Legislature in 1974, and was hailed as a trailblazer at the time. A PIONEER AND ROLE MODEL,  who dared to reach for the stars and set into motion a place in history for all women to celebrate!

The legacy that she leaves behind is what dreams are made of!

A woman who started off from humble beginnings, Juanita Goggins went on to become the first black woman elected to the South Carolina Legislature in 1974.

When interviewed by the Associated Press, she replied:  “I am going to Columbia to be a legislator, not just a black spot in the House chambers,” she told The Associated Press in 1974 following her victory over an incumbent white man from a district just south of Charlotte, N.C.

She went on to say that voters “were weary of poor representation. They were ready to accept a person who was sincere and concerned about things. Those feelings go beyond color,” Goggins said.”

Her story is not about the D’s or the R’s, this is about one woman, who through her dedication and devotion,  set the standards for excellence!

Her many achievements are a testament to her determination, sincerety and concern for her community and state.

We at The Majority United – RIDS, Republicans, Independents and Democrats are saddened by the death of this pioneer and role model for all women, young and old and we applaud and celebrate her life’s achievements!

Pay Raises for Lawmakers

Americans throughout this great nation is now, making it their responsibility to become more involved in what this administration and those in congress is up to.

Americans have sat back and given those who respresent the American people the “power” to act in our best interest.

Truth be told, many of us have been “asleep at the wheel”, including me!

In a time when the economy is “spiraling out of control” and the American people are “tightening their belts” and the jobless rate is climbing ever higher and presently hovering at 10% and we are still waiting for jobs and responsible homeowners have lost their homes and many of us have had to resort to extending our credit to pay for the necessities, along with being taxed for everything and we have those who represent the people, giving themselves “unearned pay raises”!

Back in 2008, they all knew that we were heading for difficult economic times that they all helped to create and yet quietly they still set themselves up to receive their “automatic pay raises” in 2009 and left their constituents to “fend for themselves”!

I find it a disgrace, that the men and women of congress have chosen to enhance their lives at a time when the American people, their constituents are at a disadvantage.

Pay Raises for Lawmakers Angers Watchdog Groups

By Stephen Clark –

Each lawmaker is due for a $4,700 cost-of-living wage hike starting in January, which will amount to a total cost of $2.5 million for taxpayers

They received this pay raise in Jan. of 2009.

“We the People” are left to “twist in the wind” while these corrupt politicians have given themselves their automatic pay raise that we, their constituents are picking up the tab on,  to the tune of $2.5 million!

As Americans across the country grapple with one of the worst financial crises since the Great Depression, members of Congress quietly are getting a pay raise.

Our country at the time was “heading full steam ahead into a Recession” and congress already knew this.  Yet they “Quietly” voted to okay their pay raise.  This is their “modus operandi”, their method of operation.  Consider all of the “backroom deals” that goes on in congress.  “Cornhusker Kickback”, “The Louisiana Purchase”, just to name a few.  “Connivers” comes to mind.  I find it appalling that they should better their lives at the expense of their constituents.

Each lawmaker’s annual salary is due for a $4,700 cost-of-living increase starting in January, which will amount to a cost to taxpayers of $2.5 million in 2009, infuriating watchdog groups.

Yes, they can all sit back an wonder what went wrong when they are all out on the streets looking for another job in an already jobless market that they all helped to create!   Voter Imposed Term Limits, that’s the ticket!

“Members of Congress don’t deserve one additional dime of taxpayer money in 2009,” said Tom Schatz, president of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.

Automatic pay raises for congress should be done away with!  The economy is ever changing and congress’s pay should be adjusted to meet the economic climate or we will have a repeat of those who should know better than to vote themselves a pay raise in a Recession.

“While thousands of Americans are facing layoffs and downsizing, Congress should be mortified to accept a raise,” he said in a written statement.

It is obvious to the American people that congress only cares about themselves.  This is why they will meet the “hand of justice” in the November midterm elections!

Members of Congress make an average of $169,300 a year, with Congressional leaders making slightly more. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Cailf., makes $217,400, while the majority and minority leaders in the House and Senate each make $188,100.

The raise will increase the average salary to about $174,000, up 2.8 percent.

Did anyone receive their COLA this year?  We all know what the answer to that question is, NO!  So then, why did congress get a cost of living allowance when people on social security didn’t?

Pelosi’s and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s offices did not respond to’s requests for comment.

Surprise, surprise, no comment from these two.  You normally cannot get these two to zip it!

Pay raises for public officials, whether at the federal, state or local level, usually spark outrage among taxpayer advocates. But the deepening financial crisis has led even a few lawmakers to object.

Earlier this year, Rep. Harry Mitchell, a first-term Democrat from Arizona, introduced legislation that would have stopped the automatic pay adjustments from kicking in for members next year. But the bill, which drew 34 cosponsors, died in committee.

Two other members of Congress, Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind, and Rep. Gresham Barrett, R-SC, also tried to block the wages but didn’t get very far. Burton plans to return his pay increase to the Treasury Department.

“As we face the most challenging economic crisis in our history, and with many Americans and Hoosiers enduring personal financial hardships, I am opposed to any pay increase for members of Congress in 2009,” he said in a written statement. He said he’ll try again next year.

“We the People” have our work cut out for us.  It will no longer be in the Parties hand, Special Interest , Lobbyist or the politicians themselves.  The People will have their say in “the courts of public opinion” and the words “your fired” comes to mind!

Lawmakers have received automatic raises since 1989. As part of an ethics bill, Congress gave up its ability to accept pay for speeches and made annual cost-of-living pay increases automatic unless lawmakers voted otherwise.

Lawmakers have rejected pay raises six times since then, most recently last year, when Democrats, newly elected to the majority, had vowed to block an increase in their paychecks until Congress raised the minimum wage.

For the past eight years, Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, has been trying to end the automatic salary hike for House members, arguing that spending priorities in a time of war and economic crisis do not include pay raises for lawmakers.

Matheson wants to put the automatic pay raises to a vote

“At a time when people are losing their jobs, their homes and their retirement, I think the least we could do is openly debate whether we should take the pay increase this year or do some belt-tightening,” he said in a written statement.

As he has done for the past eight years, Matheson plans to donate his pay raise to charity, his spokeswoman said.

At the time, Democratic congressman Matheson seemed to “see the evil of their ways”!

Update:  This is the congressman whose brother Scott Matheson was recently appointed to a federal judgeship by the administration.  Congressman Matheson originally voted against Obama care and now he is suddenly vacilating with his vote.

This is a prime example of why they must all be FIRED!   This is what happens when they stay much too long in congress.   VOTER IMPOSED TERM LIMITS!

The Senior Citizens League asserted the pay raise would rank each lawmaker in the top six percent of American households.

“As lawmakers make a big show of forcing auto executives to accept just $1 a year in salary, they are quietly raiding the vault for their own personal gain,” the group’s chairman, Daniel O’Connell, said in a written statement. “This money would be much better spent helping the millions of seniors who are living below the poverty line and struggling to keep their heat on this winter.”

It’s a disgrace and a “slap in the face” to our seniors who have contributed all of their lives to our society.

The group estimates that a senior receiving average benefits will get a $63 monthly increase to just $1,153 per month next year, increasing their annual total to $13,836.

The pay raises come as the economic recession deepens. The economy lost 533,000 jobs in November, bringing the unemployment rate to 6.7 percent.

Notice: back then the unemployment rate was 6.7 percent and it is now, hovering at 10% and America is still “spiraling out of control” thanks to the men and women in congress!

The American people have a very long memory!

“A Tribute To A Most Remarkable Woman!”

The Majority United – RIDS are a remarkable group of women and men who are Republicans, Independents and Democrats.

Many of us were a part of the historical 18 million voices who fervently supported  Senator Hillary Clinton.

The outrage at the DNC and Party politics played a significant role for The Majority United, who were not just outraged, but defiant and refused to acknowledge the candidate, who the DNC,  the Democratic party, mainstream media and the list of “conniving bedfellows” who used every corrupt and fraudulent tactic to push thru “their” chosen candidate.

Sexism, racism, corruption and manipulation played a defining role in what would lead The Majority United in support of Senator McCain and Governor Palin’s unsuccessful run for the Whitehouse.

The 2009 presidential race shared the same similarities and commonality of sexism, racism, corruption and manipulation that was undeniably familiar to the 2008 primary debaucle.

It was during this time when The Majority United along with many other groups whose names appear on our Blog Roll joined forces with our Republican counterparts.

The Majority United through this new collaboration were no longer a group of just Democrats or just Independents.  We welcomed Republicans to join our rank and file and we evolved into what is now The Majority United – RIDS.

Through disappointment and adversity in “political theater”, The Majority United – RIDS, Republicans, Independents and Democrats have emerged as not just remarkable but dedicated and devoted in championing the causes for all who need a helping hand and a voice.

Those who visit our Free Us Now web blogs or tune in on Monday and Wednesday evening on Free Us Now Blogtalk radio show, will discover that we deal with many issues that are of great concern to many of our members.

From womens rights to domestic violence, misogony and sexism, racism, politics and corruption, the economy to health care, media bias, to The Tea Party and every issue that concerns not just us here at The Majority United, but every American across this great nation.

So we of The Majority United – RIDS, dedicated bloggers, posters and protestors would like all who participate in reading and posting at Free Us Now Web blogs and those who choose to chat or listen at Free Us Now at Blogtalk radio, would like to introduce you to “A Most Remarkable Woman” our “fearless leader” Betty Jean Kling, “freemenow”.

RIDS is the clever “brainchild” of our very own Betty Jean!

Betty Jean, mother, grandmother, daughter,  “fearless leader” and a champion to those who need one.   Dedicated and devoted to her family and friends and The Majority United.

As members of her group, we recognize her strength of character, determination and spirit, all qualities that only true leaders possess!

She shies away from the praises that she so well deserves!

We are constantly amazed that she finds the time and the energy with her ever busy schedule to manage and guide us at The Majority United.

Betty Jean, you have helped everyone of us to grow and challenged us to become more aware of our world in crisis and that it is up to each one of us to stop the whining and complaining and get involved in making this world in which we live a better place!

This “Tribute to A Most Remarkable Woman!” from your followers,  comes with our most sincere appreciation!
